Question about brake pad shims

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have never replaced brake pads before. I am replacing my stock brake pads with ebc red stuff pads. The new front pads come with a noise reduction shim on the back of the pads. My question is: Do I need to reuse any part of the stock shims when installing the new pads? The stock shims have 2 parts with tabs that fold over the side of the pads. The shims that come with new pads are just small squares on the back of the pads.

I just used EBC Redstuffs on my daily driver and I didn't use any stock shims. Just the panel of rubbery stuff that comes with the EBCs.

Take care though that my rotors were destroyed after 2 years with those pads. I suspect that when they're cold they create excessive wear.
