Apparently the Jacob's FC1000 works with the stock FD coils. The other amps tend to burn up stock coils. I have one but have not installed it yet. You'll have to do the wiring yourself while the HKS unit has a plug/play harness for installation.

the hks twinpower works with both leading/ trailing coils and its rotary specific. not to mention its plug and play with the harness. I don't think your going to get any extra benifits from FC1000 amp over the twinpower. except it's cheaper and its harder to install.

Howard Coleman uses two Jacobs FC3000s with his AI setup, so I doubt they're there for show. It is unclear to me if you can run them with a PFC though...

yes the twin power is plug and play but the jacobs seems to help give a more complete burn so Jacobs FTW

I am not in anyway saying their not good. just for the ease of installation and compatibility with the rotary I think the twinpower can't be beat. and it will work great with an Ai kit on the market .

Didn't mean to imply that you were, I just wanted to add that HC has them and has been quoted saying they'll fire through a 10.1 AFR and richer on a dyno. The twin power is nice, and convenient, but between the two I can see a clear reason to count either out.

I'm looking into getting an ignition and going through the same decision process you are. I'm either going Jacobs FC1000 or MSD 6A. I feel either will satisfy my needs and are half the price of the TwinPower. Howard Coleman suggests using the MSD 6A in his A/I thread.

If you go with the MSD or the Jacobs unit do you need to run 2 amps? one for leading and one for trailing plugs? I noticed that howard had 2 jacobs, while the twin power can run both.

+1 and we all know space is an issue in a FD. 2 amps is just more trouble and more things to go wrong.

Amping the trailing plugs is not necessary; trailing is mostly to clean up the burn. Jacobs run better with non FD coils - they turn to burn out Fd coils. Fc coils in the FD are the best option for jacobs.

check tomvr94rx7 the guy who runs 19 psi on stock twins in the dyno section.

HKS Twin Power FTW. We have used the twin power on 300,400,500 and 600HP cars with no problems. No need to do anything else.
