Jacobs FC1000 Install
Jacobs FC1000 Install
Can someone tell me what is involved when installing the Jacobs FC1000 unit? I did a search and someone mentioned on one of the threads that there is a harness for this unit, which eliminates splicing wires. Does anyone know where I can find this harness? Any ideas would help. Thanks.
I don't know about a harness but i just installed mine. It's pretty straight foward I'de recommend using an FC coil with this amp also.
The main thing is cutting the leading plug on the coil harness and crimping on some spade connectors. this connects to the FC1000 with the red and green wire then attach some ring terminales to the black and whites wires coming out of the amp (black is neg, white is pos.) these go to the coil.
This link is for an FC but is it helped with my install.

Is there any difference in procedure when installing the FC1000 with the FD coils? One of the threads I came across also mentioned the install can be done without removing the UIM. Is this true? Is it possible to splice into the coil harness with everything instact?

you can easily mount your ignition components without removing the UIM. you do gain modest advantage, of course, by removing the UIM as you can remove the leading coil which allows more air to circulate between the trailing coils and reduces weight.
just unclip the plastic coil connector at the leading coil. you will then need to attach the two wires to the plus and minus trigger posts on the FC coil. the FC1000 fits in series into this loop.
when i ran my Rotary Pro Pak (same dimensions and wiring as FC1000) i located it on the flat surface of the frame rail a few inches in front of the steering and behind the lateral intercooler brace. i located my FC coil on an aluminum 3/4 inch strip using a nut located on the inner shock/spring tower w the plugwires pointing downward. i trimmed off the box-like enclosure for the unused FC ignitor.
sorry no pix.
