Jacob's Energy Pak

I just installed a Jacob's Electronics Energy Pak (Ignition amp) on my 94'. The car runs smoother and revs nicely. I've read/heard that this amp will fry my 3rd gen leading coil. However, I have also read that this problem was corrected about 1 1/2 years ago. I know that the 2nd gen coils are better capable of handling the higher output, but I just wanted more input from you guys before I make the swap. This is my daily driver, so I can't afford to get stranded!

I recommend calling up either chris or ari at www.rx7.com and asking them. years ago i bought the original jacobs amp from them and it did indeed end up frying my leading coil. i switched to an fc leading coil (which includes a bit of wiring harness cutting) and had no problems. i have since switched to the newer jacobs fc1000 amp and everything is working great

Yep, my blue Jacobs fried two stock L coils. I now run two FC1000s matched to two C4 coils that act as the stock coil.

Rich - good to hear your setup works.

Hindsight: It's easier, cheaper and very effective to run the plug n' play Twin Power.

First time - one pass down the strip.

Second time - two months and a pass down the strip.

I have been running it for a few months now with zero problems. rx7.com claims that it now works fine with the stock coils.

Thanks Mark....I really like the unit. It handled my 17 psi dyno run and 19 psi on the street (running the 10 heat range motorcycle plugs [b10egv?] leading) with no problems.
