Mooing through airpump INTAKE, not ACV EXHAUST...
Hello-
I did the "cheap bastard"-esque intake modification a couple of days ago and was greeted with the airpump mooing. Fun. The thing is that, near as I can tell, it's coming from the airpump INTAKE, not the ACV exhaust.
Yes, I've searched extensively and have tried many things on the ACV exhaust, including just plugging the danged thing. It doesn't help. But, if I restrict the living daylights out of the intake, the noise goes away.
Keep in mind, I have the stock airbox with the stock ACV exhaust resonator chamber and it doesn't help. In fact, one of the ways to reduce the noise is to unplug the airpump intake from the box and let it sit in the engine bay. The noise doesn't go away, but the magnitude gets cut in half...
Is there something I'm missing here? Is it a terrible idea to restrict the airpump intake? Any other brilliant thoughts?

I solved the problem! And, there are NO restrictors anywhere - the airpump is free to do its job... quietly. Here's the key: you use the built-in resonator chamber in the stock airbox for the ACV exhaust AND the airpump intake. When you have a big hole cut in the airbox, this is needed.
My implementation is this: You tee the two hoses together into the airbox and cap off the previous airpump intake. Then, to ensure that only clean air gets into the airpump, stick some foam in the end of the resonator chamber outlet (the u-shaped hose that goes to nowhere). I used a piece of foam cut out of a lawnmower air filter, but I'm sure other stuff will do fine.
Hopefully this will be useful to someone else... I know bugged me :-).

P.S. Unfortunately, in the process, I broke my airbox... I built up the setup, tested it (no moo!), and then took it apart to add clamps and "make it official." In the last step, I managed to break off the airbox connection for the resonator chamber... ARGH! I guess I have to moo a little longer until I can get a new one... <sigh>
