That's not as bad as I had envisioned. I expected to see it crushed in a bit. Hopefully not too hard to repair. Any estimate yet?

Ride height is stock. It's the weight of the carport pushing it down.

It is crushed in, you just can't see it since the carport is still on it. The roof is not only crushed over the passenger door it is also pushed back away from the top of the door frame.

I got an estimate on my own of about $3000. The city's appraiser was here a short while ago and I should hear back from them in a couple days as to their thoughts on the damage.

Definitely not as bad as I thought it would be... I thought it was a personal carport -- i.e. one attached to your house that is smaller, and if knocked down, would bring it all the way down on your car...

anyway, it's a shame -- 1 or 2 more parking spaces over and you wouldn't have gotten hit!

Glad to hear that it isn't going to be totalled. $3 grand, wow!! That isn't much for body work these days. Hope the repair goes quickly

See that Ford Escort at the end in the first pic? That car is holding the carport up. If it wasn't there the entire structure would have come down on top of my car. You can see the wheels of the garbage truck in the second pic. It was still crushed up against the side of the structure.

The driver of the truck looks like the local city workers here.

They make a mess and then proceed to just stand aside and admire the trouble they have caused.

I am really very sorry this had to happen Damon.

I don't know how you didn't kill anyone. I have my FD sitting in the garage just so I don't have to worry about it. It'll get fixed though.

I guess there's the silver lining... a Ford Escort saved your car! I gotta think the damage of the whole thing collapsing on your car would have made the damage a lot worse...

Did you get any pics of the car after you finally removed the structure?

DAMN!

I suggest counseling immediately that's not something you can recover from on your own. Talk to someone before you find your self covered in blood, smelling like garbage, and have no idea where you've been.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Damon.

This must have been a bad week for RX-7s. While I keep my 94 RX-7 and the wife's Solara in the garage, my dailer driver 91 RX-7 must sit in the driveway. We had 10 minutes of golf ball size hail on Thursday night. That poor old, dependable beast looks like a moon crater. At least my "new" 94 was protected.

I know it must suck just to see the car like that but when I started reading the thread I imagined the car to be wrecked to a point its not drivable. The pics arent that bad, Me and probly other people who seen the pics think that its not as bad as it could have been. goes to show you that RX7's are strong enough to take a beating. hope you get it fixed soon

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car, Damon. That definitely sucks.

But at least you know who did it and how it happened, and you'll hopefully be reimbursed for it. Some brain-dead lowlife decided to key the driver's side door of my car while it was parked for only a couple of hours in a shopping district garage last month.
