It's good to be back...
Hello all,
I am a previous '93 owner and now looking to get back into the world of the rotary. As you all know as you start tweaking things the RX can be very ill tempered. I want to do things right this time around. I am looking at a '93 R-1 with only 10,000 original miles. Nothing has been replaced and it is in excellent condition. Besides the bolt ons I don't want to mod any thing else. My question to all of you is eventhough the motor/chassis has only 10,000 miles and garaged should I still be concered for the following things:
1. Apex seals
2. O-rings
3. Intake gasket
4. TURBOS!
I know about the things to be modded such as the air seperator etc. but I want to make sure there will not be anything else that I am missing.
1. If you have anything to add please do so.
2. What do you think is a fair asking price?
Again it's good to be back and thanks for having me.

Yes even with 10k miles I would be very concerned with those things and would suggest you still have the car checked out by a reputable rotary mechanic or even a mazda dealer. Have a compression test done. Make sure there's no constant smoke from the exhaust as well. You have a less chance of these things being wrong with it with 10k on it but I would still check them out as you can get carbon buildup in the motor and seals going bad. So again yes I'd get it checked out before purchase, you'll probably be spending upwards of 22-23k so it would be in your best interest.
I dunno... a MINT rx7 maybe could fetch 20K. I wouldn't pay 22-23k, 'cause almost guaranteed, you'll need to replace a major part soon after purchase....... Seems to be a curse thing with low mile mint FD's
