Intermittant Starting

Happy Thanksgiving!

1993 Touring – Replaced a leaking Fuel Pressure Regulator and cleaned the injectors and put the manifold back together and car started right up, turned it off as it was on Jacks.

Went to start the car, and it just turned. After searching, must have flooded the cold engine, jacked the car up, and deflooded removing/replacing the plugs and fuel pump fuse. Started right back up, but turned it back off as it was on the jack.

Repeated process and lowered the car, just turns and won't fire, repeated the unflooding and it just turns, will not fire. This morning I said the only difference when it starts the car left front wheel is jacked up….so Jacked up the front wheel and the car started right up.

Anything Jacking the car up does, does the Oil Level sensor interrupt the ignition? Maybe a ground wire reconnecting somewhere I missed?

Spark plugs are likely fouled. Remove and clean, or put in fresh plugs. You can clean plugs by heating the tips with a propane torch until the worst stuff burns off - that has worked for me (on other stuff, never have flooded my FD).

Yeah you keep flooding it.

Rotary engine 101 - once it starts, LET IT RUN UNTIL IT HEATS UP. If it was on jack stands you should have just let it run 10-15 minutes then shut it down.

Your plugs are big time fouled out now. You can try cleaning them but I would just get a new set of leading plugs. Pull leading plugs, pull EGI fuse, foot to floor, crank until no mist or anything comes out. Put in new leading plugs, put fuse back in, start car, then either drive around or let it warm up before shut down.
