Question Intake Piping

I have a buddy with a 2nd gen. TII who installed a aluminum intake pipe and his car now sounds a lot different. You can hear the turbo spooling and the whistling sound almost 5 times louder. At the same time he put a blitz bov on. Is it the aluminum pipe that makes the sound? he says he has a a little, but not much, better throttle response. What do you think?

Metals resonate high-frequency sounds like a spooling turbo very well. Better throttle response is doubtful. It's just the placebo effect if you ask me.
