Question Intake Manifold, Question

After debating whether to get my IM chrome powder coated, I had to remove all of the little bits attached to the IM. And there was a part in particular that had me worried. Its the circled in red below, as it was spring loaded and I foolishly removed it without concern to its positioning. Anyhow I was wondering if anyone could explain what it was and if it's exact positioning is something to worry about. If I am correct I believe it is a throttle adjustment.

Thanks in advance for your time.

That's the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). I'm surprised you would remove the UIM and accessories without knowing what you were removing.

You may have to readjust it to make sure the high and low voltages are within spec. Read the Service manual.

there shouldnt be any spring tention when you remove it

the bolts that hold it in place have paint on them so you can line it up again when you install it but it may need adjusting as well

also that is not on the intake manifold it is on the throttle body and the throttle body comes off the manifold with the removal of 4 caps

Have loads of fun!!

I'm surprised you'd remove the TB accessories when trying to remove the UIM accessories

You'll have a much easier time working on the car if you study all of the parts before hand. The FSM may not be very detailed in many aspects, but it's very helpful to review everything you are going to be dealing with.

Don't sweat it, all of us have done the same or similar things...wait until you read my upcoming thread about the Rotary Extreme dual 25-row oil cooler install...

Thanks again for your help, Reza. You and Chuck will get your props in my thread! BTW, my oil temps haven't gone above 180 F, even after some hard low speed driving. The coolers rock.
