Question Installing Tein Flex - can't remove front shocks & how to adjust height?

Hi guys,

I just picked up a set of Tein Flex coilovers for my FD. I'm installing them, and I have a few questions for the vetrans.

- I've successfully installed the rears. I want to adjust the height (car is too high), but I'm not sure how to go about it now that they are installed. I understand the difference between adjusting the height using the lower bracket as opposed to adjusting it with the springs (and changing the preload), but how do I adjust the height now that the lower bracket is bolted to the car? Should I twist the entire shock body, or what?

- My front OEM shocks are completely stuck to the lower a-arm. I cannot pull them out for the life of me, so I'm letting them soak in WD40 right now. Can anyone provide any help or tips for prying them out? I really want to finish up this install, but I can't figure out how to get them out for the life of me, and it's really holding me back.

Thanks a bunch guys!

I assume that you also removed the ABS wires from the brakes, the brake lines from the a-arms, disconnected the sway bar end links or the brackets so the sway bar does not prevent the unit from dropping all the way, and removed the bolts that go through the bottom of the shock. You still will most likely also have to take the bolts out of the top a-arm bearings so you can pull it outwards. If the units drops too far, you might also have to actually remove the brake lines from the calipers to prevent stretching them.

Anyway, you use a pry to move the bottom of the shocks out of the bottom a-arm.

whats the problem? You cant get the lower bolt out of the control arm or is it that you have the bolt out bt cant get the shock out. I have the flex's to on mine and all I do to lower it is to remove the two nut that hold the cap to the car and then lift the car then just loosen the lock ring and spin the upper assy.

I've got the lower bolt out, I just can't physically pry the shock out of the a-arm, it's stuck in there.

Yah, mine slipped out pretty easily once I got the bolt removed.

What do you Flex owners have your dampening set at?

Scrap of wood and a hammer. I really wasn't worried about damaging the stock shock but I didn't even have to tap it hard enough to ding it. Came right out. Good luck

Set up the coilover to the dimensions Tein gives you for the FD. If further adjustment is desired, Tein recommends that you adjust the lower spring seat (double locking nuts/collars). This is what they told me over the phone.

if you adjust the spring you will loose travel if you tighten the spring you will be loading it. but you have the flex so you can adjustable perch(the thing that is atached to the lower arm) just spin the shock clock wise and that will rise the purch and lower the car not affecting the ride of the shock. I believe tein sets all the shock to the proper setting so you should never need to change it.
