Thumbs up Installed new Kaxien HID's

I have to say, i'm very impressed so far. I was slightly worried at first because I lack projector housings, or the wise sport/ebay housings, but I really had no reason to be. The beam pattern is great with the built in cutoff. There are still a very small amount of weird reflections and spots where the light is a bit more focused, but the overall improvement is HUGE. If you look at the first pic and follow the cutoff line from the right to left, you can see where the bulbs do a very good job of keeping a smooth line, while the center portion of each headlight beam pattern is where the light is focused the most and goes above the cutoff line slightly. Then, you can see the smooth cutoff in the middle of each headlight, and then nice and smooth all the way to the left. It's perfect because you have no worries of blinding incoming traffic when the cuttoffline on both sides is perfect. I have had absolutely ZERO problems in relation to worrying about people being blinded. The bulbs are done very well IMO.

I've been spending a lot of time adjusting them because they give me so much more visibility now that I have to aim them entirely different than the stock bulbs. I used to aim my lights very low and close to the front of my car because the light would become too disperesed (sp) otherwise and I'd lose visibility drastically. It's entirely the opposite with these. I've aimed them so high that the lights couldn't close without hitting my front bumper, and the light was bright as far as I could see.

Anyway, for now I only have shots against a garage wall ( sorry about crap in the way). The pic quality is a bit strange because they've been downsized from 3 megabite files to 512k, as well as the resolution ( damn photobucket taking away the quality of my camera shots =\) but you can see how the cutoff line works, and how much brighter they are. Later tonight i'll be posting up street shots so you can see the beam pattern on the actual street. The second picture, I put my camera on manual focus, and I obviously did a really crappy job lol. It also adjusted how much light it picked up as you can see, the brightness is much lower . I'm using a thousand dollar camera, and I really don't know what im doing with it quite yet.

The install was rediculously easy. I didn't have to cut anything like the other purchasers did, I'm really not sure why they did. Perhaps a difference with getting low/high beams vs low's only. The only thing that took more than 5 minutes was finding spots for the Ballasts.

Sam at autodoodad did a wonderful job of communicating when the bulbs would get here. I must have gone back and forth via e-mail with him about 10x, and he was more than happy to answer any questions I had. Thumbs up to him.

Anyway, on to the pics.

2 pics of the bulbs (6000 kalvens raiting low beam only).

You might wanna investigate this issue more closely. If you blind oncoming traffic, not only will you be one of the people I deeply, truly, hate, , you may have someone blinded enough to create an accident. And that would suck if the other driver was flustered enough to come into your lane.

I know you could be aiming them 'up' relative to how you had them before, which means they aren't aimed wrong now, but someone else setting up their lights might not be aware of the importance of this.

If by alone, you mean no other cars on the road, that's fine with me. All my driving instruction and experience says that high beams are very invasive to other drivers.

I hate it when other drivers leave their high beams shining on me.

But I'm running the thread off-topic. Those are some very nice lights.

Nice! I love my set! Do you have them in your stock pop-up housings? From those pic it doesn't even look like you need any hi beams.

There are more wires on the hi/low and an additional controller so it took me longer to mount mine. I think the reason we had to cut a little square out of the housing is because with the hi/low we have our wires comming out of the bottom of the bulb in the back. Do yours also come out that way?

I would love to see street pics of the 6000k.

Ah I think you might have misunderstood me, or I wasn't clear enough. When I didn't have the HID's I had to aim them very low so that the light would actually do some good instead of just giving a "lightly dimmed" look to everything because the light was being too dispersed. Once I got the HID's I was able to start aiming them back at a normal level, and well, I was able to aim them high enough without losing any light quality that the lights themselves would have trouble closing because the little tabs on the front of the housings would catch the bumper. I drove around like this and got 0 flashes, even on gradual turns where my lights were pointing straight into oncoming traffic.

In the end though, I still couldn't close them right, and it was unneccisary for them to be that high so I lowered them and have had no problems with blinding any oncoming traffic or anything; afterall, it is actually one of my biggest concerns. I drove around with some of my friends in front to make sure I didn't blind people in their rearviews as well.

Great job Steve. Lol, I've been too lazy to actually commit to installing mine and getting the light kit finished, but they look to be awesome. I at least know what to look forward to if I ever get around to doing the 6k install.
