info please auto trans ecu

need technical question answered. i have a 93 rx-7 california car with ecu #N3A4. i have the opportunity to get a slightly modified ecu from another forum member. my question is his ecu #N3A2 auto trans but his is a portland oregon car which does not have smog requirements. will the N3A2 ecu work in a california car? if so, what is the difference between the N3A2 and the N3A4? I think the only thing that differs is the egr sensor. rotary techs please respond with any info.

Thanks-
jeff
