Improving Ebay Headlights!
As the title says "Improving Ebay Headlights!" Thanks to the original poster of the Ebay Headlight/Silver Star bulbs thread.
See original post here:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...bay+headlights
I installed these lights and did a night run. I started out with low beams and it was obvious they are not intended for people driving on the right side of the road! There was a very sharp shadow cutting across the road ahead from the passenger side close in and crossing ahead to the left side farther out. These lights would not blind on coming drivers when driving on the left side of the road while in Japan, but in the states they probably will!
As the thread says these lights, do not project correctly for left hand driven cars AKA; DOT/SAE approved. Therefore, here is my attempt to correct this by removing material from the Lamp Post. Pictures speak 1000 words so I have included many. They are posted in order for familiarization; the photos are from left to right, stock at the beginning, modified shots at the end. The only tools I used were a screwdriver and a pair of tin snips.
I hope to get some night shots tomorrow and of course take a test drive! I will post the results.

Well, I'm still not happy with my work so far. These lights have potentcial! Here's what I did after the first drive. I swapped the top adjustment screws around so the washer is now on the right. I always wondered why it was there and now I know. I have plenty on adjustment now to bring the beam as far right as I want. This is what the washer does, it prevents you from bending, breaking, or generally messing up the rear of the bulb/plug. I had to trim my fiber glass a little to insure it wasn't going to bother during adjustment. Now I just have to find the time to tweak it just right and get the most out of them. I will try and get some pictures maybe this week end out on a dark road.

Stop wasting your time, these lights if used with halogen lamps or hid kits are worthless. The light patern is for RHD and the improvement in brightness is 10-15% vs stock. On the other hand, they are perefect canditates for hid-retrofitting.

after seeing the pictures above, i'm encouraged to go ahead and try out a custom retrofit myself. on some ebay headlights of course, is that what you're doing? i'd be afraid to try this project on the stock headlights in case i messed something up. regarding size, i don't know what size the fx35 projectors are but i'll measure the TSX ones when i find and post back. they were originally going to be used for a retrofit into a prelude and uses bulb size D2S (or DS2...i can't remember which). what size are the bulbs on the fx35's? oh and post a write-up of how you're doing it so i can follow

If you pulled the lenses off the Ebay lights and put them on a stock housing you wouldn't have any focusing of the beams at all. However if it was for a HID modd it would be ideal.
