You can repair the harness by removing the plastic shielding and solder the wires together. Follow up by insulating the solder with some heat shrink tubing. Then place wire back in tubing and re-wrap it closed with a high temp electrical tape.

Im not sure what to do-alternator-wire.jpg

This is what im talking about the wire got pulled straight out of the plug. My friend said i should just jam it back in and tape it so it cant come out. Ill do it if it works but do I have other options.

Same thing happened to mine. I went to a junkyard and cut the connector and wires from a car that used the same type and then did the repair as mentioned above. someone on here may have a junk harness to get the connector with wire tails from.

You need to splice on a new connector, don't just jam the wire back in. I believe the 89-91 2nd gens use the same connector for the alternator. It might be easier to find than an FD connector.

the

I may be missing something basic, but maybe you could just call Ray at Malloy and see if they can sell you just a new connector? If that is not possible, then why not just buy a new connector from an autoparts store, and cut the old connector off of both the alternator and harness and just solder the new connector on? I know that changing the alternator in the future would be a hassle, but it should work fine.

Contact "Fritz Flynn" on the forum. He probably has one or two junk wire harnesses that he can cut up for the connector.
