i have pictures of the Power fc commander but as i told everyone the speedometer said one thing and the power fc said another!
I have had my baby up to 175 MPH racing a Camaro SS on spray. I know what you mean about the 5th gear thing. When I switched from 4.10s to 4.33s it made a difference. You might want to look into that. Your top speed will go down, but your 5th gear pull will be stronger. What are the ratios on the RX8 6 speed compared to the RX7 5 speed?

/\ yeah i remember that vid. i saved it, the camaro got caught by the police!

HERES ONE OF THE HIGH SPEED RUNS I DID! i have no video cause i was in the car by my self (440hp)

as far as i can see it would be a little more speed with the rx8 only with the extra gear gets me there a little faster as i will be in the powerband more often! and with the 3.9 final drive ill run out of gears before i run out of rpms

Dude, get the getrag from the supra.

Its able to hold alot of power and you can go well over 200mph.

Here is another clip, notice how he shifts just before 8k rpm. Since you're squeezing more rpm's in each gear, this tranny is perfect for you.

I can understand about wanting a 6spd. I've gotten use to the one in my C5, and I always find myself hunting for another gear in the FD and S13...

you wont find a getrag for no less than $3k and can skyrocket from there. i've seen several abused trannies that need a rebuild go for $600 tho.

mosey on over to supraforums.com they should be able to give you a good idea on what a decent price for a getrag is.

It's my understanding that the gears and shafts simply aren't as beefy in the RX-8 trannys. Not something that a shop could do much with.

I suppose I could try to find someone with an RX-8 tranny that needs rebuilt. That should provide some really good information about it.

A guy here in PR with a 20B swap RX-8 had the main shaft(s?) custom made in cromoly. He said with just that change the transmission holds up to a lot of power.

i think there's a thread in the 8 club.

your Top speed wont increase by going to an FE 6 speed tranny

the reason being.. both tranny's have the same Final Drive

you will be adding a gear somewhere between 3rd and 4th If I remember correctly

which is pretty useless.. since our turbo cars have the tortque to power through it

how do you think people innovate or engineer things, they try it out! maybe by finding the weak points, we can be able to have a 6 speed transmission.
