However, this one does dyno at 400+ HP and torque.

The 190E 2.3 16-valve had a stock curb weight of about 2800-lbs, like a FD Touring.

Can you believe in RACE form the 2.5-16v EVO II made OVER 300+HP normally aspirated !

There is a guy in Europe wanting to turbo his EVO II, but everyone is telling him it is too rare of care to mess with (only 502 made).

The production 2.3-16v (these are 4-cylinders) engines have such good bottom-ends, that they can easily handle 400+HP . . .

I also have a friend who stuffed a 5.0L Ford V8 into a 190E, and re-worked the suspension. He takes this to NASA events, and when I was riding with him at Roebling Road Raceway, he pulled AWAY from a Porsche 930 turbo on the front straight.

Here's a QuickTime movie of Toby's car at Roebling Road.

Right-click and Save:

Enjoy,

I recently had to go through this decision. My FD's third motor needed rebuilding and I just didn't have it in me to go through yet another rebuild along with all the other things that needed fixing. I've had my FD for 10 years and thought that I'd never sell it.

Well, I needed a practical car that I could drive to work daily. My wife was cool to lend me her G35x when y car was down. But, I needed a DD. I also didn't have the garage space to keep the FD as a project car.

I decdied that I would budget <$35k for a replacement vehicle. My choices were:

M3 -e36
G35 Coupe
90's NSX
Audi S4
LS1/FD3S
C5 Z06

I ended up buying a Black 2003 Z06 w/ only 7041 miles in the ODO for $33,500 and couldn't be happier. I love the drivability of the car. It has tons of lowend torque and get better gas mileage than my FD ever got. Plus, every thing works on the car. There are no issues for me to address other than installing parts that I have purchased:

Hurst Short Shifter
Vararam CAI
IPOD hook up

The C5 Z06 weighs 3,100 lbs and comes with 405 hp & 400 ft/lbs STOCK from the factory. (355-360 rwhp)
With some basic mods I could be at close to 400 rwhp:
  • Intake
  • Long tube headers & hi-flow cat backs
  • Tune
Add a cam/heads and I could be at close to 440 rwhp. Some guys are at 550-600+rwhp with FI...

Let the modding begin!!!

John

Congrats! My father has the same year and color. Oddly enough, he probably has about the same mileage because he never drives the thing.

Good luck with the Vararam. Those things are a pain to install. On my father's Z06, we have the Vararam, a larger throttle body, B&M short shifter and some interior changes. I didn't do the install for the Vararam but the shop that did b*tched and moaned about it.

Is the price of the Lotus used or new? I thought they were more.

Personally I'd then "kit" a LHD one from Germany or Holland (It's closer to the seaport)

Possibility exists, and it's possibly the same reason nobody said anything because they don't want retribution, same reason passing smog without a "Cat" is "IMPOSSIBLE"
Sorry, I missed your post before.

Even kitting it won't make it legal here in the states. Check Ramy's post a few pages back. Laws have changed.

You know if people really had those cars over here there would be pictures of them all over the place.
