If you were to sell your FD...

If you were ever to sell your FD, what other car would you get to replace it in the same range?

FearNoPiston 01-12-07 06:36 PM

supra? its a little bit more money but is more reliable so it kinda makes up for that i guess

GoodfellaFD3S 01-12-07 06:40 PM

a 3600 pound ugly looking poopra? No thanks. I respect those cars for the power they make and their highway acceleration, but they are not a replacement for an FD in my opinion.

I don't ever plan to sell my FD. Too much time, blood, sweat, money, and fond memories :)

HardHitter 01-12-07 06:48 PM

Yes I never thought that I would think of selling my FD, but for the past month now I've been fixing problems left and right and they keep coming up. It's starting to take it's toll on me and I'm just looking at my options if I were to give in and sell it.

preludesh2000 01-12-07 06:57 PM

took me 4 years of looking for one and having my bills and funds ready for one....this bitch isn't going anywhere same goes for my prelude....

but my next car might be a new skyline, or an older nsx.....

this fd is everything i was wishing it would be...
and the best part, other fd owners (this forum) is very helpful
rx7 owners (rotary owners) is the best group of car owners as a whole... :bigok:

Everything you need. It's easy to see why the Rio is a great value and miles ahead of the competition.

The Rio has a range of features to make every ride an enjoyable one. On the outside, the Rio SX has a sporty, dynamic look with standard alloy wheels, body-color rear spoiler and available front fog lights.

The Kia Rio................One sweet ride

spandy 01-12-07 07:11 PM

Well, considering the only other sports car I would seriously really consider is of the high end selection, and that spending 200k on a car is just slightly out of my price range, I will stick with what I have

Crymson 01-12-07 07:15 PM

Infinity g35 is the only car I'd consider, that i could realistically afford.

Hehe, i knew you were thinking this the day you created that other thread about getting another car. :)

But its really whatever you prefer that you used the FD for. If you like having a rare car thats fun to drive thats quick, then just keep the FD. If you hate the problems it has, go with the supra.

Easy to make power, its safe when it does, its fun when you put it to the floor, and your smile will never go away :D

Dont discount the supra because people say its a "heavy pig". Thats complete BS. Its only 3400lbs but with that comes a torquey reliable engine, a backseat to fit friends so they can feel the power. Not to mention it is also rare and unique. They can also hold value liek a mother. And they handle great as well, they pulled better numbers than the FD stock vs stock when both cars came out FYI.

Just think of the supra as japan's dodge charger. People fear it, people wanna beat it. Why? because everyone wants to be at the top, they aim for these cars cause its normally the car thats known to be VERY fast.

Ok im done dickriding the supra now :D

The POS 4 door? That's the best you could come up with?

Or the one that did wheelies in Fast & Furious?

LOL who said anything about the 4 door?

Im talking about the old school charger, not the piece of shit new one that came out. Thats not even a charger in my eye.

Most supras are running around $30k+

I highly doubt mine or many other FD's would sell for 30k+ no matter how much you've put into it.

I'd be looking for something that still has the power/kick but also a nice looking car. Doesn't HAVE to be exotic. For example, I would consider an 2003 Cobra (again those are 30k+) or a nice Saleen/Roush Mustang. Yes I know going from an FD to a Mustang is a BIG different but still, in my eyes I like those Mustangs and they do have some power. WS6 Transam's are pretty nice too and also make good power.

I do love the sound of the V8, but then again, these are the types of cars you see around everywhere, but still I find them looking good.

Possibly a BMW (5 series?) , Audi (S4?) , or Mercedes (CLK55?) anything is open to me.

With my Dad just picking up a clean 1996 Porsche 911, I'd love to find a Porsche, but again, those are in the 30k+ range. Only thing in the range would be a Boxster and I wouldn't really consider that a Porsche.

And you think maintaining and fixing an FD is expensive? Buy one of those and see how you like it.

Btw, what wheels are you running on your FD? They look really nice :)

See what i mean about those high values. :)

Anyway how about the G35 coupes? That'd make a great replacement. IT has luxury, style, torquey V6. And its a real women getter.

There were a couple of times i got to bring a G coupe home and people think you're a star when you're in one. Im like damn its only a 40 thousand dollar car, im not driving a ferrari lol

snub disphenoid 01-12-07 07:53 PM

NSX. I got a ride in a nice one today, fantastic car.

wanklin 01-12-07 08:00 PM

I like the Supra but the interior makes feel like it's a grociery getter. I like the G35, but it's not unique enough' too many chicks driving around in them. An new NSX would be nice, but it's not fast enough for what it costs. My RX-7 is a toy so I'd have to replace it with a toy, and I can't think of one that I like as much that's anywhere near my budget.

I had the decision after blowing 3 stock reman engines; I could either walk away or keep fighting. I decided to do neither, I threw in an 03 Z06 drivetrain and called it a day. Not the most romantic story since I actually sold my blue FD to buy the stripped shell which is now my TGM car, but that was how I handled a similar situation. If you're a die-hard rotary head then keep it, but find a way to make it a garage toy rather than an A-to-B. If it already is a toy to you, keep it.

I really like the G35's but I think they are running still upper 20's

My old neighborer had an NSX. Very nice/exotic cars too

Nah really, the 03s can be had for low-mid 20s.

How much is your budget? If you sell the FD, you can put a nice DP on the G35 and have low monthlys.

NSX is also a good choice but price is your concern again.

chinaman 01-12-07 08:06 PM

The only thing I can think of right now that I don't like about the Supra is, the interior (material) sucks! Toyota's are notorious for thier leather interior coming apart at the seams.

And the FD interior is any better??? LOL

Sorry, just had to say it.

But yeah you guys are right, the interior is sorta plain but hey, it wasnt meant to be an all out sports car like the FD.
