So after reading my thread, basically, the FD is irreplaceable in terms of costs and I simply agree with that.

I think jpandes's post made the most sense in theory that in order to get on par with performance of the FD, you're going to have to shell out more money with his

M3 -e36
G35 Coupe
90's NSX
Audi S4
LS1/FD3S
C5 Z06

list of cars.

In keeping things in the same price range of the 7's which are around 14-18k depending on how well the FD's are maintained, I think for what I'm looking for right now it's going to have to be an 2002-2003 Audi A4.

Performance wise, the A4 is no where close in reaching the potential of the FD's. I test drove a 2003 1.8T A4 Quattro 5-speed last week and let me tell you, the acceleration on this car is HORIBBLE. I have to take into consideration though, AWD car that is heavy but I expected a lot more out of the car. I seriously felt like I had to redline it every time to just get it moving. I was cruising in 4th and I had to down shift to 2nd just to get a good jump with the car. Many on the forums say with some mods, they are able to pull on some M3's and for me that is good enough as I'm not going to race or do anything with a car like this. All show, some go.

Now the A4 is in a class of it's own on the interior which is pulling me in. I love how comfortable and how luxurious the interior feels as you sit in it. The features and all the bells and whistles really make you comfortable and at home to just cruise the streets.

As we all know the FD is in a class of its own in looks, and it's performance, but I feel at the time being, I need something with 4 doors, trunk space, and a little bigger but still have some good zip to it. It won't be FD zip status, but like stated above, there will be no kind of racing or speeding.

Here are potential buys that I've been looking at

Both are Audi A4 1.8T Quattro

Yea I think if I stuck with a stage 3 or swapped in a bigger turbo I'd be happy for a luxurious dd with some go. It seems as though a lot of them get the GT28rs put on if going big turbo.

I think I found my next car

If you want luxurious, just buy a lincoln continental .

Btw, a gt28rs isn't all that big.......the BNR Stage 3s consist of *two* turbos about that size.

IF I decide to sell , I'm looking at Porsche 911's ... I have driven many and I already have a 356C , and these cars are just great ... I know I'll never get back all the money I've invested into my FD , but I think I could get around $20K +or- for it when I decide to sell ...

I cannot get a Vette, well I could but again, as I said it isn't practical for me. I need something that has luggage space to carry around things, I need something that will seat more than just 2 people and I'd like to find something luxurious at the same time, I think that best describes the Audi. Even though it doesn't have great performance, it still has the potential for later down the line just to have some zip. It would be like getting a M3, it's BMW's performance car sort of, but at the same time it's comfortable to drive in.

Have you looked into the reliability of the turbo audis? I haven't heard good things at all, esp the s4/rs4/rs6 etc.

You can get 01+ S4's for a decent price man.

Sure it might have higher mileage but anything that was recalled or broke, has most of the time been fixed already.

My cousin has an S4, for the abuse he gives it, its damn reliable.

I say go for it. Its a damn good car.

They don't call them "OW" DIEZ for nothing.

Two seperate independent Mercedes, BMW, Audi shops that I know have techs who say they wouldn't own one . . .

That's right up there in stupidity with "I'm putting a 13B into a '02 ex(v6) Mustang to gain revenge on the LS1 swaps !!!"

Okay Man ! I feel vindicated, can I go home and cry now ???

Some people dream of Ferrari's and Porsches...I dream of RX7's with Quad Rotors and SuperGT widebody kits...

Mmmmm, Quad Rotor with non-sequential TwinTurbo GT42R's...

If you can afford it, a M3 or 911. I think they are better designed and much better as a daily driver.

Pontiac Solstice 2007 GXP

I already ordered one of these but I'm keeping my RX7 for now.

The GXP is Pontiac's Halo car to bring people onto the lot. (See photo in later post)

ALL STANDARD:
260 HP in a 2.0 L
260 LB-FT of Torque
Direct injection
Twin Scroll 20 PSI Turbo
Dual Cam Phasing
Electronic Stability Control
Dual Exhaust

All in a beautiful Convertible on a scaled down Corvette chassis.
Lists for only $25k

Drive a Porche off the lot and it depreciates about 1/3rd
The GXP has basically held it's value.

What's more to love??

Let's keep it real

So hey guys,
Sure I'd like a Viper, or a Ford GT, or an original Shelby Cobra. For that matter I'd like a Lear Jet and personal teleportation machine but c'mon.

That's why I chose the Pontiac Solstice GXP. It's a realistic alternative to the RX7 3rd Gen. And no I do not work for Pontiac
