You didnt get 5.5 out of the warranty, the garage did! And they also got 9k outa you! The more of this thread I read the more I start to think it is a sick joke and that you actually got someon working in a garage to print you a fake invoice....its the only logical explanation for this madness!

i wasnt bragging about the money i spent on the car. i just figured it was an interesting read... my weak *** invoice... i dont think i got ripped off that bad. all the rotary shops i called had two month wait lists... i wasnt gonna wait 2 additional months on top of what it would take to fix my car. the only reason i paid 9ish grand was because i was getting 5.5 out of the warranty. i woulda sold the car if i had to pay for everything...
Seems kinda like you are content to be in denial about it. But I believe you could & should get thousands of dollars back.
But hey, it isn't my money, I don't care if you don't.

Wow, went over it again. $5k for removal and reinstall of parts when it only costs $2k to remove the entire engine and have parts installed. The other $3k would have got you a re manufactured engine.
$1800 to remove and reinstall the oil metering pump and $1900 for the pump, wtf?
You are not going to get what you think you are for the the $10k out of pocket. BNR is the only place I know of that can rebuild the twins. Most places won't do RX7 twins anymore because they end up leaking. for $2k you can get brand new JDM ones (Ramy has a used set for sale). You are not getting a new engine, not even a rebuilt one. They don't know how to fix the oil leak so they are making you pay to replace ALL possible sources oil can leak from!
There is a reason why the rotary shop had a two month wait and the stealership made you wait over a month anyhow and I guarantee they will make you wait another month.
Call the Beurau of Automobile Repair and ask them for help.

its funny...the estimate was around 300 or so, and your bill is 14 grand. if i were you, i'd be like...**** um. you were overcharged for just about everything. what are the chances all that needed to be replaced anyways?? seems like they thought you could dish out the cash, and they needed the work.

Pakitagn,
Just so you know mechanics have books on how many labor hours it should take to fix something. IIRC it is listed up to a 1/10 of an hour. That’s how they come up with an estimate. It also serves as a protection tool for both the shop and the public both parties can see how long a job should take. I’m not sure who publishes the publication (might be the automotive bureau). You really need to argue your bill it really is a blatant ripoff.
BTW New oil metering pumps are ******* expensive $1988 is about right (that’s why we all call ray at malloy mazda for OEM stuff). It’s in the labor where they are ripping you off.
EDIT-
I keep going back and re-reading your bill, and it makes me ill (no joke). 14k... My God you really need to see a lawyer about this.

Man, next time you need work done, just PM me. I live in Chapel Hill and do all my FD work myself. I can just stuff my explorer full of tools and roll your way. I'm dead serious.

Not trying to make you feel any worse than you might already feel, BUT - the invoice says the mileage is 94K. If that is the original engine mileage and not one that got put in recently - you will be in for another butt plug soon as they double penetrate you for another engine replacement. If what they charged is for a rear main seal, oil pan seal and more than likely misdiagnosed and was a front cover seal leaking (ie old paper and not a metal one) then you got hosed, reamed and starred in their in house bukkake video
Atleast in Ga, mechanic and car shops have 3 books to go by when estimating labor hours. First book - no power tools or lift (ie jacks and some craftsman socket wrenches) takes the longest obviously. 2 - mix of power tools and no lift or a lift and sockets - middle time frame and one most use here in Ga. 3 book is all power tool and lift - should be the quickest.

After some research I found out he took his car to McNair Performance in Raleigh. From what I've heard, they overcharge just about everybody that goes there unless you know what you're talking about. To the OP, you really need to look into recouping some of your losses, unless you're just rich enough that you don't mind throwing away $4000.

And yeah, $4k is about what they should hand back. The overpriced oem parts are a total loss.

Call me gramps!
am i reading this right?
1988.60 for the oil metering pump?
1800 for removal and installing the oil metering pump?
1200 for replacing the vacuum hoses?
damn dude, what the heck did you get your self into? At those prices, you can source them from else where cheaper, and do the labor your self and put the money else where.

I agree.
You're totally getting ripped off dude. I hope a bareback blow job comes with each of those services.
