Idle problem and problems at 4500-6000 rpms

I have a 94 with a new pineapple engine. new coils, plugs, wires, ignitor, cleaned injectors, ecu, 40 psi fuel pressure (on the line above the starter), every sensor checked out within range. it idles erratically. timing jumps around. exhaust reeks of gas. took the pre-cat off to gut(need a down pipe now). runs the same with or without precat installed. seems to hit a wall at 4500-6000 depending on its mood with no load. turbos connected or not. only seemed to run ok for a few minutes after a deflooding procedure. could it be a fuel pressure regulator? crank position sensor? bad grounds? please help, i've almost given up on my dream car.

How long did the injectors sit after they were cleaned? Have you put voltage to them to make sure you hear them clicking?

what kind of ecu? is the motor ported? you say you have a new motor, what have you added since it last ran? is the MAP sensor hooked up?

also you should check that you're getting spark to all plugs, not just assuming you are because you have new coils and wires. check the plug while you crank the motor.

tps is adjusted. injectors didnt sit at all, they were only 4% out before cleaning. voltage applied and clicking. map sensor connected and within tolerances. stock ecu, stock rebuild. spark to both #1 rotor plugs. will check #2 tomorrow. seems to spark too much on trailing side leading me to believe crank position sensor out of range.

Ok, so is this a stock rebuild? Stock injectors (and fuel system) with the stock ECU?

Have you verified that you didn't cross the CAS connectors? Do you have any codes stored?

Everything stock. I forget what a cas is. btw- links to down load the fsm dont work.

CAS = Crank Angle Sensors

There are two sensors on the front cover which read the tabs on the main pulley. There are two connectors, one for each CAS. The sensors themselves can be interchanged, but the harness connectors cannot. The white connector should be on top, the gray will be the lower/right sensor. Having them reversed could cause similar issues as you are seeing.

Also, have you verified you don't have any engine codes? If so, make sure your CEL is working by disconnecting something that you know will cause a CEL (just to make sure someone didn't disable the CEL).

CAS connectors are correct. CEL works. I used it to pull the codes when the knock sensor was out. no other codes at all.

Then is sounds like you need to start diagnosing the fuel and ignition systems.
