Identify this wire with me

Anyone got any idea what this wire is that is in a loom along with 2 ground wires that ground to one of the bolts on the stock fuel hardline rack mounted to the rear housing? I'm not that great with wiring diagrams, but if someone happens to have one for this part of the harness and can link me to it, it'd be most helpful. My tuner that reinstalled my motor left some wiring unplugged and/or plugged in the wrong places and I'm getting the pleasure of sorting through it. Wire in question is the one with a red extension wire crimped on to it. TIA

It goes to the sender for the factory coolant gauge which is on the rear iron under the oil filter pedestal.

Interesting. That explains a lot. Guess the factory wire has a break in it somewhere in the harness or something. Looks like a bypyass wire has been run straight to the gauge. If my understanding is correct, this wire doesn't affect the ecu/powerfc, it only gives a signal to the gauge for temp display. The temp sensor(s) that give info to the ecu is the one on back of the water pump housing?

That is correct, that sender is JUST for the gauge on the dash, it won't effect the ECU or the drivability at all.

Also, the engine normally has a plastic "quick connect" on the end of the heater hose in the picture there. You can remove that and just clamp the hose to the engine but it isn't the right size so you really have to crank the hose clamp down and oil will get on that hose over time from changing the oil filter and kill the hose. Ask someone with an FC how many heater hoses they've been through! That plastic quick disconnect spaces the hose out so it doesn't get oil on it and it also helps it fit and seal better.

That's the part! I know there's a Ford or GM version of that connector as well, I've actually seen it in the Help! section of the parts store. I wouldn't trust it on an FD, though, get the real Mazda part.

$14 from Atkins, may be a little less from Ray Crowe.
