Talking I want 500hp

Ok the RX7 store has a 500hp Single turbo kit for $6k. Here is what it includeds.

Package Includes: T04S Turbo, Manifold, Wastegate, Downpipe, and all the fittings. Apex Power FC, tuned for your modifications, Greddy Pulley kit, 1300cc Injectors, Apex Front Mount Intercooler, Midpipe and High Flow Fuel Pump.

Also if I start out with a completely stock FD and want to reach 500hp would this package be a good way to go?

Do you guys have a better way? If so what should I do if I start out with a bone stock FD.

500 BHP. ~425 RWHP.

Justin, dont think that you can strap on that turbo and pull 425 RWHP.

it seems like you got a nice MR2. stick with that for a while.

in the mean time, please do some research on the FD.

I paid almost $5.5K just for my streetported, oil and coolant ported engine with silicone seals and o-rings and 2mm Hurleys. You'd better start with a dp - then cb, then ecu and intake and so on - not just bolt-on single without doing the reliability mods or you're in for headaches - keep the MR2 like earlier stated - they are fun cars - save up money for your FD with money on hand - you'll probably need it.

500 hp my ***. The Rx7 Store gets his stuff from XS Engineering. Even thier car had to have a ported motor to make that kinda of HP. Also their car was extensivly dyno tuned. Even XS will say that a FD should be put on the dyno. No FD is the same and a pre-tuned PFC is still a guess of how your car should run. I've seen 3 cars with the same set up need different fuel settings. You never know. Claiming 500 hp by just bolting on is BS.

Everyone in here know that tuning is everything on a FD. No matter what turbo you have T04s, T78, T51R...it is all usless without good tuning.

There are a lot of guys in this forum who should but haven't seen that kinda HP.

Like GSXR said if it were only that simple.

Just want to clear up one thing....I am not saying that the set up is not capable of 500 rwhp. Pete at XS car hit over 500 hp with their T04S kit but like i said that was with a built motor, extensive tuning and C-16 RACE GAS.

XS makes great kits...i use their T04S kit myself....but don't think you are gonna bolt all that stuff on and get 500 hp. Remember how fresh is your motor. With that setup you can also blow your motor.

XS or Rx7 Store have no idea of the condition of your motor and neither does the PFC. Big turbo motor go POP!

yup...its all about tuning. ive seen an FD with a T-78 and poted motor only pull 410 ish RWHP....at 18PSI! that combo with good tuning and that much boost should net at the very least 450 RWHP.

but you guys gotta remember, the 500 that Jason states is BHP, not RWHP.

I definitely wouldn't just slap this package on a stock FD and expect to actually get 500hp without going KaBoom. But I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say about this package and what kind of work would have to go into the engine to make this work. I will most difnitely go through all the basic bolt ons and then when I learn more and more I will decide if a big power RX7 is what I want. Escpecially if reliability becomes an even bigger issue with that kind of power.

Hey Justin, how do you like that MR2? I was looking at a 92 turbo for sale around me, I like it alot. I had a 87 Fiero GT, and I liked the car but it handled like absolute garbage. Is the MR2 good handling?? I know mid-engine cars were built for good handling, but that has not necessarily ben the case. Anyway..About how much money did you put into mods to get that time? Im assuming you have a turbo. And can you give me any good websites for MR2 mods, I havent been able to find any good ones. And, would you recommend getting one, Im seriosly considering it. Any common problems, etc.. Im going for a test drive on Tues. Thanks.
