i need the truth!

Okay, here's the deal. I'm putting in a street port, and at the same time i'm going non-sequential.

now, the majority of the threads I have read say nothing about having to have an upgraded ECU to run non-seq. however, there are a few i've seen where it's stated that you can't have the stock ecu and run non-seq.

which is the frickin' truth?!

here's what i'll have:

Mild Street Port
Downpipe
Intake
N-tech hi-flo cat
*maybe a pully kit
and of course non-sequential

A) With this setup I'll be able to get rid of the rat's nest, correct?

B) If A is true, I should only have 7 vacuum lines, correct?

C) And I'll be able to do this with the stock ECU...correct?

I'm so tired of reading up on this s*&t...I'm about to tow the car back to my mechanic and tell him to deal with it! I just want a straight answer!

(now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll get plenty of people offering up conflicting answers).

Thanks!

I think as long as you run with a cat + a ported wastegate to keep boost spikes down you should be ok.

I've never seen the threads where people say you need an aftermarket ecu to run non-sequential. I am sure it does aid for tuning purposes though.

I'll be different and say if you want to run that list you should get an ECU - it certainly wont hurt you. I dumped an engine with intake, DP, and CB and 11 PSI.

I would think an aftermarket ecu would be beneficial, if not necessary for running non-seq because you are hitting full boost at an earlier rpm. The stock fuel map does not anticipate this.

Also, with a streetport and hi-flow cat, I would think it's time for an ecu. If nothing else, get a Pettit or M2 that will atleast provide a little more fuel to be safe. If you are only going to run 10 psi, you might be ok with the stock ecu, but what's the point?

i never even thought of the whole "truth" reference. hardy har har har

I also forgot I'll be running a manual boost controller. and a y-pipe. I forgot those....

The turbos, boost controller and Y-pipe were all Gary Hagner's before he went single, if that means anything.

Mkay?

you answered yourself for me. Sweet! I'd love to go single, but I don't seem to have another $5000 laying around...I'm gonna be hurting enough as it is thanks to my engine going Ka-Boom.

I didn't see the street-port in there. I don't know what I was smoking yesterday. But I personally would get a aftermarket ecu considering you are getting a street port or you could try doing what Gordon suggested.
