sorry if this has been on the board before but I need help on buying a 93 ( R1 ), I want to know what the typacal things I should look for when buying one, how much is a FAIR price, and I would like to know about how much all your insurance is ( assuming you have full covarge ) and what typacil mataince is and the price (expect oil changes), I plan on tring to find a stock one or one with minamal mods all I want to do is a turbo timer, boost controler, 3mm seals, 99' turbos and port it with a computer, and intake and a racing beat exhaust, 99 front end and wing (maybe)...guess thats all unless you guys recommend anything.

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

At the age of 20, I do not recommend it as financially it is too much of a burden - in addition it's usually too much of a car as well.

Bought my 7 when I was 17, now 20. I have loved these car since late 92 when my dad first showed me the picture of one. Clayne is right though, unless you have an undying love for this vehicle and are willing to put every ounce of your income in to it, than this is the wrong car for you. You will also need something else to drive on a daily basis. I drive a 95 miata, kinda gay, but very reliable. The 7 is for weekends. This is literaly one of the most unreliable cars ever made, no joke. If you feel the same way as I do though, have a paid off daily driver, are very handy with a wrench (able to drop in your own motor, ect.), than maybe this is the right car for you. BTW, dont buy this car if you dont have the money for a rebuild, cause you will need one at some point. I assure you, we have all gone though it.

BTW,
Full coverage (required with a loan) is about 300 per month on this car, with a clean record.

I got mine for 18k, plus, as Bee mentioned, about 300 a month for full coverage. I think I paid a tad much, so I'd set a fair price on a (stock) R1 at about 14-17k depending on mileage, the use of the car, and the gulibility of the (former) owner.
