I must suck at driving... (Slow 1/4)

Well, to start, my mods:
Intake, DP, MP, CB, PFC w/ Base Mod Map and Tri-Points 9.5lb Flywheel.
Dynoed 290rwhp 245ft-lb of torque @ 12 PSI.

I'm running street tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE730s in 245/45zr16 trim) w/ 20 psi in'em. I launched at 3500rpm, anything above that just seems to fry the clutch/spin the tires. I'm thinking the Flywheel is the root of all evil here. I'm bogging a bit on the take off, but then she rockets out of the hole afterwards.

Anyways, I went to the track and ran a 13.4 @ 105. 2.2 60fts, and 10-11 PSI (mucho leakage)

I made a pass w/ 13.6 @ 101 because I missed 3rd and let off instead of shifting to 4th, but the R/T was a 2.1...

So, the question is, what's the problem? Tires? Flywheel? Boost Leak? Problem exists between Steering Wheel and Driver's seat?
Tomorrow begins the hose job, I'm tired of these crazy *** boost leaks!!!

Here's the full slip:

R/T .974
60' 2.219
330 5.813
1/8 8.790
MPH 83.32
1000 11.294
1/4 13.420
MPH 105.42

practice makes perfect! There are lots of variables that could have come into play. Whats your boost pattern? Do you know that you have a boost leak/issue? If so primary or secondary? I ran a 13.4, and a 13.88 both at !10.5. I won't tell you my setup.(save myself the embarassment!Haha) BUT i spun the tires through third because of the traction compound that was put down and I just had street tires on. Carefull on high RPM launches!! I did ONE and heard my rearend go boom after about 30 feet!

your setup seems correct.. try launching at a lower rpm..

when i had my 87 turbo II, i made good 60ft times when i launched at 2900rpm.. i had a stage 3 clutch though.. any revs higher than that i probably would've spun tires forever..

Seems right to me. I would say the car is capable of a 13.0 with practice. Don't worry about reaction times until you get the launch down and feel comfortable.

Damn the flywheel! With that you have to keep the rpm's up to keep it from bogging which makes it real hard NOT to spin the tires. I ran my car with a DP and catback with the RE730 Potenza tires just like you. I didn't even let air out of them and I was cutting a 2.1 60', this was when I had my stock flywheel. It's probably in the tunning of that PFC. I was told the base maps are for getting you around and to the dyno for tunning not the race track. Get it tunned and launch the rpm just a tad lower and shift 'mAd qUIcK y0' and you would have a high 12 there.

i cut a 1.9 60 with potenza re610 or whatever they are last night. I ran a 13@108. Just pratice launching and you will be ok. Perhaps into the 12's.

also, dont be afraid to powershift the **** out of her. Never let up on the gas!

You may try putting some air back in the tires. I've had the best luck running my Khumos at around 35psi, rec. max pressure is 44psi. I've tried as low as 25 but it added about a tenth to my 60' and knocked a couple of MPH off at te big end off the track. A true street tire has too stiff of sidewalls to react like a drag tire, and by being run at a lower pressure you are most likely loosing a bit of your contact patch in the middle of the tire. With the stock clutch I was just dumping it at 3500 and putting the gas to the floor at the same time, I could pull consistent 2.0's with an occational 1.9 in there. With the stock clutch it slipped just enough not to bog but also not to spin the tires. Now I have a ACT extreme pressure plate with street strip disk going in so I'll need to change the launch. Best time to date is a 13.0 @ 113 w/ a 2.0 60'

That MPH is good for a mid to low 12, nice. What are your mods?

The boost was DEFINATELY leaking on the secondary I'm almost sure. It usually makes about 11 psi before the switchover and 15 afterwards (on high boost setting) and at the track it was making more to the tune of 10 before and 11 after on the same setting. I can hear an audible leak as well (on the way home) so I'm sure a hose came off somewhere on the way to the track or on the way down the track. I'm pulling her apart tomorrow and going to be doing the silicon hose job whilst I look for the boost leak.

Seems about right to me. Same ET and 60' for me but I don't have a PFC. Your mph is a little higher. Drag tires should get you down into the high 12's...
