i know its an auto...BUT 16s????!!!??!

just got back from the strip for my first time...

first things first this is my first time at the strip. i dont think i was getting a 10-8-20 boost pattern and i didnt know how to launch an auto so i just kinda put the pedal to the floor... here goes try not to laugh. someone please PM me with some pointers or something. with times this bad im not representhing the rotary community well.

1st go
r/t 1.47
1/8 11.15
1/8 mph 72
1/4 time 16.5884
1/4 mph 91.01
(this run i went past the staging lights, and i backed up and the lights came on, i sorta panicked and put it in second hold instead of 1st hold when i realized what happened i was already way behind a z28 camaro but when i got into 1st i sorta did alright, from that point i mean)

2nd run
r/t 1.0127
1/8 10.7256
1/8 mph 73.40
1/4 16.1524
1/4 mph 90.76
just used straight automatic no hold or anything like that, figured id at least get into 15s...

mods are
high flow cat d/p and catback.... in theory what could i have run with those mods in an auto please PM me or soemthing. im depressed now.......

Don't feel to down....first time at the strip, and its a learning experience. I would try putting your foot on the brake, while giving it some gas....until you feel the car start to want to move ahead. Then once you see that last yellow flash, then mash it to the floor. I think the car is capable of 14s without a problem. CJ

first of all, verify your boost pattern. Get a boost gauge, which you should have anyway. If you don't want to spend a lot, go get a $25 one from the auto parts store with some vacuum tubing and run it to the intake manifold nipple.

Secondly, I believe you should use the hold feature and brake torque as much as possible. There's auto owners here that can probably help you more than a 5-speed guy like me.
