16x7 +42 offset, anyone running 215/50 16s ?

Hi folks,

I have searched through and read a ton of threads but couldn't find anyone running this exact setup.

16x7 +42 offset wheels, anyone running 215/50 16s Front and/or rear on similar wheels? I am wondering if anyone has run this and can tell me if they had rubbing problems without rolling the fenders. Suspension setup is in the sig, it should be stiff enough to not provide alot of roll. I woiuld like to go with a wider tire than the standard 205 if I can do it wihtout having to roll the fenders but I couldn't find anything definitive on the site.

Thanks!

that offset doesn't sound so hot. more suited for a FWD vehicle.

You won't get a 215 on the front.
You MIGHT fit a 205, but it'll be real close on that offset...

215's should be fine in the rear on those...

I'm running 205-45-16's with a 43mm offset, barely fits in the front, fine in the back. Your rubbing problem will be more of a problem on the inside of the tire.... on the spring mount/spring itself. A 215-50-16 may also be too tall.

Thanks for input guys, guess I'll have to see how it goes, maybe order some spacers to push em out a few mm if it rubs since i alreayd have the wheels in hand. Hieght wise shouldn't a 50 on a 16 should be the same as the stock 60 on a stock 14? How much does running a 45 throw your speedo off?

A 215 will rub on the stock rim with the correct off set. So a 42 will bring it in on top of the strut spring. You might get away with a 205-50 but I would say go with a 205-45 if you want to run a 42 offset.

We have a 235 mounted on the rear of one of our 1st gens. That looks awesome.

no, 215-50-16 will be taller than stock (gsl-se) 205-60-14. If you have a choice between going taller or shorter than stock, go shorter.

I was about to attach an Excel spreadsheet I made a while back....but the forum doesnt allow .xls attachments anymore and I dont have a .zip program on this computer. So here is a .jpg screen shot of it...if anyone wants an actual working copy to play around with, just pm me your email address.
