I know this has been asked 40000 times but...
I suck at using the search engine.... so my question is... what first mods should I do to my FD. I was going AF/Boost Gauge... Downpipe. radiator....ast etc etc.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated especially since this has been posted 4000 times.... and I know the 3 mod ecu rule.. but I need to start somewhere cuz I cant afford a new ecu right now.

If I were you, here's the upgrade path I would follow:
1. Boost Gauge (I would also do the stock temp gauge mod as well as the fan mod here)
2. Downpipe
3. AST Replacement/Elimination
4. EGT or A/F Gauge
5. Catback
6. Upgraded suspension springs (Eibach or H&R)
7. ECU
8. Hi-Flo cat or midpipe
9. Radiator
10. Intake
11. IC
etc...
Good luck!

ey man, i musta missed the news or maybe i just forgot, but ya finally got ur FD. Got any pics, or specs. But anyways the first thing you should git is a boost gauge and replace the ast tank and radiatr becuase the longer you wait the more time u can have thing go wrong. Thats if they havent already been done. Then i wouldsay go for Dp,MP,catback...but that would be cutting it close without the ECU so just pick like one or 2 outta there.

haha yeah its a 93 base model 69xxx on stock engine and its running like a beauty. I tested the compression before I purchased it and its was right up around 100psi which is almost perfect. Turbos are still runnin tsrong too because boost was perfect 10-8-10. 5 spd of course... running beautifully I'll have pics soon

Congrats on the 7 - just got mine a couple months ago.
Don't neglect the other reliability mods such as silicone hoses and changing out the fuel filter. Also, check your treads and get some good stickies if you need.

your mods should always be in this order of importance:
Safety
Reliability
Performance
Safety first - are all the tires in good condition? Do not put this off for later! You will regret it. Are the brake pads worn? Have the rotors been machined past their minimum thickness? Don't know? Check! An AST might be considered a safety mod also.
Reliability - the simplest things first - complete all fluid change (unless you know when the last owner performed this), fuel filter change, AST, make sure all hoses are secured, etc. Get a water temp gauge, or perform the water temp gauge mod. Fan mod too if you like. A downpipe is on the borderline reliability/performance.
Then comes performance - boost gauge, cat back, downpipe, intake, ECU, etc.
It amazes me that people immediately rush out and spend $$$ on performance mods when they quite completely neglect the condition of the tires, or the transmission fluid that's been in the car for 70k miles as well as the fuel filter that's been in there just about as long, or any of the basic stuff that comes with owning a car.
