lucky you. I have had the worst luck with my A/C.

First, we thought my system was dry because it had been sitting for about 8 months so we replaced all o-rings and re-filled it.
Outcome: In 3 days it failed.

Second, we thought I just had a leaky in the system so we replaced the condenser.
Outcome: Did not hold pressure overnight

Third (current), we replaced the compressor and awaiting to have the system filled again.

Talk about money goin out the window. The compressor alone was about $700, along with a new condenser, o-rings, freon, and labor it has gone past $1k.

But I guess that's the cost of owning a kick *** car so I'll deal with it. I just don't like the bad luck I keep having with mine.

would you replace your failing 13 year old a/c parts with other possibly failing 13 year a/c parts?

Normally I see if a system will hold vacuum before charging it.

Any time the system has been opened up to the air the drier should be replaced.

I don't know if that's the source of DMoney's problem, or maybe contributed to it. If your system won't hold pressure it's best to take it to a competent professional for a good leak test and full evaluation. Otherwise you open yourself up to a piecemeal, trial and error approch.

A/C problems can kick your ***. I spent $2400 on my Suburban's A/C system two years ago. New compressor, two new evaporators (it has dual a/c system) and all the piping, plus labor and gas.

Sucked.

Jmax I got it mixed up, we did replace the drier, not the condenser. We have been taking it to a professional. We put in the parts but everything else is done by a pro.
