I got one for you...
I go out ot my car to go to lunch. As i'm backing up, I turn the wheel full lock to the right. When I reach full lock, my horn (which hasn't worked in a year) sounds, and then my car almost shuts off.
Electrical short? Anyone know of any wires down there I should look at first?
I've never heard of this one.

that is wierd...
disconnect your battery, take out the airbag, look for any loose or frayed wires. take a fillips screwdriver and titen the screw that holds down the horn wire.

I'm having a similar problem with mine. My horn has not worked from the day I purchased the car. The horn does honk when my alarm goes off. I don't know what or where the problem could be.

My '90 convertible, which has an airbag steering wheel very similar to the FD, had an intermittant horn. The ground wire was either loose or had a lot of corrosion, or both. Remove the airbag, and you'll see the wire held on with a Phillips head screw.
I don't believe the airbag is hard to remove. Disconnect the battery, and there should be 4 10mm nuts that you get to from the back of the wheel. Then, disconnect the electrical connector for the airbag and carefully place it somewhere out of the way, pointing up. Then, see what you can see.

dale is right there are 3 10mm behind 3 rubber plugs. in side there is an orange and a blue connector. disconnect the air bag ,follow dale's advice, look at the black wires on each side for the horns. it may be the clock spring though

Clock spring would be my guess.

Well, I was at KD yesterday....my car screams now. The 99's are pretty baddass. I'm not sure they make that much more power, but they sure come up hard. They're noisies too. There's a very audible whooop when they fire up. I drove the Merrit PKWY(NY) at anywhere from 90-120mph....cruising with a Carrera 4, STI, and Camaro SS. Very fun.
Well, the horn thing happened to Dave as he was backing it up off the dyno.
He says I need a control switch....for the Rear wiper, Auto cruise, and shoot....something else. Crap, I have to call him. Anyway, the person that said clock spring is pretty much right. The clock spring is supposedly attached to the switch.
I'll let you know what, and how I fix it.

Yea, it definately doesnt make you a wuss for being scared of the airbags... you just have to be careful, its always good to be safe and concerned than risk your health and be wreckless.
I'm never too concerned about airbags myself as I've removed them from my previous cars and friends cars before for various reasons (Mostly steering wheel upgrades) and I've done 1-2 at the Ford dealer I use to work for. Beign SAFE is all that matters, take your time and assure you arent going to discharge static when you are removing it. An extra precaution would be a ground strap for your wrist and also only touching the airbag on the plastic portions not the metal backing if you are really concerned.
I would think it is either the ground line being corroded or loose or possibly a caught wire -- when turned to lock I can see a wire POSSIBLY being caught and grounded out thus causing the system to short and the horm to function. Fixing this issue will almos certianly fix your horn as they both sound directly related.
