HVAC controls

I have recently started having problems with my temperature control. I've tried searching, but haven't found much info out there about it. The other controls on the panel work, but no matter where I set the temp control, it is always hot. The **** spins to the normal limit points, won't spin completely around like I have read others having problems with. My initial guesses are pointing me towards control unit or the mixing unit. Turning on the A/C makes the air 'less hot', so that is still working. My manual seems to have a nice lack of information on this. I'm looking to see if anyone has any ways of testing those 2 items. I'm trying to avoid taking it anywhere as I know the control unit new runs from roughly $560-700. Also, any insight on how to get to the air mix motor would be great too.

Thanks a lot

You have verified that you aren't low on freon?

If I remember correctly, when it gets too low, it disables the A/C altogether so all you get is warm air.

It's not warm air, it's hot. I can hear the A/C compressor kick in. Turning it all the way to cold on a 40 degree day still makes the cabin extremely toast.

Anyone ever heard of this:

(quote)
Have you checked the hot water inlet valve? i believe it is electric, and for a quick fix you can unplug it and the valve should shut but, on cold days you would have to plug it back up.(end quote)

If so, any idea where that connector is? Don't have that stuff in my manuals.

Thanks. This could be worth a shot for now.

My HVAC controls stopped wqorking so I yanked them off and the washer and stuff had come off. I just put themn back together properly and everything worked fine.

It isn't the washer/nut unfortunately.

For any that have had the control unit fail: does everything crap out (fan speed, temp control, vent selection) or just 1 of those?

My low and mid fans speeds do not function, nor my a/c. Additionally the a/c light does not illuminate. The only HVAC functions that work for me are the blower location selections, heat, & fan (high only).

Any help would be much appreciated.
