BC How we keep informed

Poll is to measure how rotary owners keep in informed regarding rotary topics important to them.

The poll will provide a basis for future polls to see how information sources vary.

In my opinion:

Whatsapp: Our local Whatsapp chat with over 150 members is by far the most active and versatile method off communicating. We have created related chats to segregate topics like meets, photography, parts and general discussion. Since forming the group in 2014, we likely have over 1,000,000 posts.

Local meets: Facilitated by Whatsapp, we have a very fluid scene of meeting up in groups, large and small, often on very short notice. Nothing beats meeting and chatting to discover current mutual areas of interest.

RX7Club: This format works extremely well for sharing information and seeking help. The indexed topics that can be searched and reviewed provides an invaluable source for rotary owners. The concentration of expertise in one place is unsurpassed.

I don't even have whatsapp. I don't know if local rotary guys here have a specific platform they use. I just keep in tough with my local rotary friends over text or messenger.

Forum hands down for me. Youtube is good for watching some builds and whatnot. Facebook layout sucks for anything but pictures and the same reoccurring questions imo.

The forum is much betting for organizing and long-term archiving our collective wisdom.

I forgot to include Twitter. Is there any active twitter sites?

Maybe include in Tik Tok? Does not seem to be much interest in Tik Tok.

Are we missing an entire generation?

It'd be interesting to know what sort of info is useful on Reddit and Twitter. Just mainly chat?

I don't really know about twitter, but I used Reddit for the same reasons as I use this forum. I have a lot of questions and I try to spread it around to not annoy people as much.

lol, seems like a lot to me. recently its been a little worse. I'm removed my entire drive down stream of the transmission plus the rear subframe and rear suspension. But was seven years ago so my questions are down to my faulty memory and sound stupid, even to me. People here have been a big help.

the problem with closed communities, i.e. social media, is that they’re closed communities. They deceive you into believing that they’re the source for everything, when in fact they’re the source for only that which is ringing about within their own echo chamber. And not necessarily true or complete. Whether an outright lie or ignorance is not the issue. The issue is it’s often not the whole truth.

Nothing is as thorough as Rx7club. If you use this place properly you can find an answer to everything. I do feel like it sucks sometimes because you miss out with connecting with people in the club.

I am a bit surprised that the "meets" category above has such a small representation. However, other than some clusters, it seems FD ownership is pretty spread out, and maybe getting together with other owners, off-line, is not an option. We started a Whatsapp chat essentially to plan pop-up meets. But it has morphed into a continual stream of conscience. Like the Borg. Even so, it is terrific to get together, because we always can expand on chat topics at great length.

I think the main reason is because of how few owners and running cars are on the roads. Only a handful at best in most cities. Then aligning schedules and such to have regular meets is tough amongst some of the older crowds like myself because family time tends to take priority over hobbies.
