How to tell if your Sequential or not

Alright after messing around with a missing diverter valve in another post it is starting to look like my car might be a Non Sequential setup, is there an easy way to tell if my 7 is sequential or not? I have quite a few vacuum lines that are plugged or not hooked up. So any insight would be great. I have searched and found out how to turn your sequential into a non seq setup, but can not find an easy way to tell if they are.

Thanks again all

well if you have a boost gauge you would be able to see a drop in boost between the first and second turbo. If you had a pic of the engine I and several others could probably tell just by looking at whats capped off and what is missing.

Drive it. If it starts boosting at 3600+ your are non seq. If at around 2500, you are seq.

Alright I have taken a look this morning and there is no black plastic tanks anywhere that I can see. I have a complement of gauges coming in from Prosport, they are in Miami atm so I am still going to be waiting for a bit.
One thing I did notice is that the double throttle actuator is unhooked, I think I might take the extension off today and see if the butterflies are still in there.

One last thing I can not drive the car here yet as there is still ice on the roads and the car is one of the most powerful cars I have driven in a few years, and well she is my dream car and I would hate to mess it up lol

Thanks

Mike

Sounds wise Do you put salt on the roads in Canada? Salt is good for rust...
Just remember, you must fix the BOV before you try the boost.

why not just show us a picture of the engine bay?

checking it to see what and when it boost is the most inaccurate way of checking it...

@ plopen, yes they salt the roads here, thats why my 7 is a summer only ride, I have my chevy pickup for foul weather lol. As for the BOV I have one on its way i should see it within a week.

Also there is no plastic tanks under the hood at all neither the vacuum tank nor the pressure tank.

Just ask it if it's sequential....

In all honesty I think the best way to tell if it's sequential is to sell it.... so we don't get threads like "How do I find the door handle to get out" threads.

Yeah I know, I have not even had the car for a week, i am in the process of pulling everything I can get out and clean her up good, paint what needs it, polish ect then slap her back together.

@ Scrub, If you couldn't tell I am really new to this car ^ 6 days new to be exact, and when I bought it I had asked if it was still sequential and was told it was.
But while I am asking questions that frustrate you, could you please tell me where the button for the A/C is OOh and I don't know how to undo my seat belt either I might need your help there

All I was hoping was that someone who has their car set up non seq could give me some insight. In a previous post someone mentioned that my 7 might be setup non seq ( https://www.rx7club.com/new-member-rx-7-technical-256/open-nipple-air-pipe-control-valve-889311/ )

just looking for advice

Thanks everyone

O Scrub anytime now I am gettin kinda tired of not being able to get outta my car due to the seat belt

I don't see the black pressure tank, so either it's non-sequential or it's just missing a bunch of crap.

BTW, you have the HKS RS intakes. They are a) the bomb, and b) mighty expensive. You scored there. New they're like $500, used $400 or so.

Do you know what front mount that is? Almost looks like the Apexi, but kind of doesn't too .

Thanks Dale!

Well after I took everything apart to start cleaning her up, I wiped off a bunch and I mean a bunch of dirt and grit from the top of the FMIC, all I can see on it is TRU the rest is still covered so I am going to assume it is a Trust/GReddy. The car does have a tuned by Trust placard on the D-side door sill with a bunch of numbers on it.
Once I get everything cleaned up I will get some more info to you

once you get the UIM off, take a good hard look at the vacuum diagram for non-sequential, you'll probably be able to tell in about 60 seconds if you aren't blind.

it *looks* non-seq, however, i do spot the double solenoids on the UIM.

Can you take a close up picture of it? It is pretty easy to tell between a seq and non-seq setup, just because of how many vac line - take a near the oil filler neck and the power steering pump, there should be a black chamber too,

Same here... respect. Read the thread on how to clean your engine bay then post some more pics

Not having photoshop on this computer sucks big time.... If your Y-pipe looks like that, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet you're non sequential.

If the car isn't already non-sequential and is missing things. Make it non-sequential. A world of headaches and unreliability disappears. Search for "Rich man's non-sequential conversion" I did it and I LOVE it.

this would be easier if you have a power fc and commander. Just look at the settings and see if the sequential is on or off

Unless someone set it up incorrectly.
