How to tell the difference b/t R and Base model

Looking to buy an FD... How do I tell the difference between a R and base model FD? ..other than the front lip, that's too easy to change. Any concrete ways? Thanks.

To add to BillM R model seats were all black faux suede, where base had a sort of herring-bone pattern. IIRC the R models were not offered in white (94+) and likewise, the Base models did not come in Yellow or Black. I'm not sure, but I think you could get a base with a sunroof too. No sunroofs ever on the R models. I believe all R models had MANA air conditioners, not sure Base models were NIPPONDENSO.

Everything is a simple swap between the R1/R2 and base models. You really are more buying an FD with an sunroof (Touring and PEP) or an FD without a sunroof (Base, R1/R2).

not fake suede..... Alcantara fabric.

the best way to determine if it is an R1 or not.... test drive it.... if it still has stock suspension, the R1's had a noticably stiff ride compare to Base, touring/PEP

Potato, Potahto. But you have a point, that does sound better than faux suede.

Easy to change. I added it to my R1 in about an hour. Four parts, all plug and play.
