How to take these off.
i decided i want to remove the side parts and have a little more air flow through the main opening of the bumper, how do you normally take them off,' i just cut the 3 things that were in the center but now im not sure how to remove the side parts

I took mine off (were not painted, just black) without removing the bumper. Once I got on the ground to look around, they came off in less than 5 minutes. Temps went from around 186-190F down to solid 180F. have to drive hard for awhile to get up to 185+ now.
Oil cooler looks painted too, might want to make sure air flow isn't being blocked by the paint over the fins.

i believe hold fog lights, the oil cooler is fine, thats a pic from around when i first got my car, about 4 years ago, i just wanted to ttake them off now, and no the unscrewing didnt help, i just used a jigsaw and cut it out, cant even tell it was ever there

I would suspect that those covers are there for air direction. I would actually suspect that they increase the speed and amount of air that passes through the radiator. If you look at how all companies duct things, the smaller opening is always in the front of the thing being cooled. Look at the intercooler duct, smaller opening when compared to where it is sealed at the intercooler its self. Next the oil cooler, smaller opening in front than where it seals to the oil cooler. It has to do with pressures. It causes a kind of a vacuum behind the "cooler" that helps air come through cooler. Think about it. At speed a lot of air has the potential of hitting the cooler (ie radiator intercooler or oil cooler; they all operate under the same principal.) If they are given too much air it will stop going through the cooler its self. At high speeds the amount of air going to the cooler will be more than is capable of being passed though the fins and will cause a high pressure spot in front of the cooler. This will prevent air from going through the cooler at all. One of my "pet peeves" is when people start modifying aerodynamic areas of their cars. Mazda has a wind tunnel that they test their parts with. If you really think they put those tabs there to make the radiator cool LESS efficiently you would be mistaken. If you think that you know better than wind tunnel testing and people that design this stuff for a living be my guest and modify your car into oblivion.

I dug out my...whatever these things are. One can tell how they attach by looking at the backside pic, there are basically two slots that fit into square fittings on the bumper, inside the opening. The bottom essentially snaps in. All you have to do to take these off is to take off the undertray, and then push these out from the rear to the front, then sort of wiggle them out of the way.
As for directing air flow...I too struggled with the veracity of taking these off. I cam to believe that these are actually an impediment to air flow as much as they redirect thru the bumper into the radiator. In they DO indeed cut off about 3" of flow into the radiator/condenser. The driver's side unit essentially terminates right at the intake from the airbox splitter unit that directs air to the intercooler and the airbox, so...while it may aid in directing air into the splitter unit, it does actually keep some air away from the radiator.
When I modded my air box, I ran a 2" intake hose from the bottom of the airbox to a rectangular opening just to the right of the radiator, between it and the frame. This coincidentally is right where the passenger side...whatever it is....was.
