how to remove/check turbos

Tomorrow i am going to check my turbo to make sure the secondary DOES need rebuilding. I think im gonna send it to BNR when i do. I might buy a used set to get me buy for a while right now...anyway. How to i check them..and also how do i remove them. Is there a link to anywhere that has a walk through or anything. I just dont wanna take any chances of me screwing anything up...ive never taken turbos or a turbo off a car. Thanks for all the helpful input

Andrew

i didn't know a whole lot about it when i did it the first time and i've done it 3 times now succesfully. just take things slow. once it comes off, remember where it goes. but if you're just wantin to check shaft play, take off all inlet hoses and you'll be able to see the compressor wheels, just wiggle them

you can check to see what type of condition the turbos are in by taking the elbow intakes off and grabbing the nut that's in front of the compressor wheel. Pull back and forth...that checks thrust collar/bearing. Should NOT move back and forth. Then move the nut up and down. Should NOT go up and down. Good luck with her...
