How quickly do you get to temp?

More cooling system questions.

How quickly do you all get to temp just idling? in 3 minutes I dont get any responses on my gauges. When the thermostat opens thats when the heater actually starts blowing heat? How long do you think I should idle the car before I shut it off in case its starting to overheat and I dont see it(not sure if gauges working yet). I have to burp the car and am using the yellow funnel that connects to the filler neck to burp.

Some extra info:

My thermostat is new from Napa and doesnt have a jiggle pin.
Fans are stuck running, im trying to get car in driving condition to get it to a shop. Fans are running medium while idling and I think one is on its way out because theres a clicking noise from them.

10-15 minutes to get to temp just idling, I have no heater lines hooked up so don't know. The stock gauge won't start to move until above 150f, first 2 gauges to get are boost and temp and you should get them immediately. I have an aftermarket aluminum radiator but other than that nothing major changed on the cooling system, with the fans running constantly you will probably take a bit longer to get to temp.

Yeah forgot to mention I have a upgraded aluminum radiator too. I have water temp and boost but their cheap and I don't trust it. Either going to go power fc or get better gauges

If the engine was rebuilt with the oil jet thermostat deleted, it will take longer to warm up. I'm not a fan of this mod. I made a thread about it here https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...tupid-1017656/

IMO the thermopellet mod effect on warm-up would be minimal.

The OP's fans are running constantly and it sounds like the gauge sensor is after the t-stat. Factor in state of tune, coolant/water ratio, mods and ambient...and comparing it's warm-up time to others might be apples to oranges.

I try not to leave any car unattended and idling.

I actually moved the temp sensor into the TB line. But I may be getting bad readings because I know I have to ground the T but I have no idea how. No eyelets or anything can fit on it. The next gauge I get im going to put it in the stock temp location on the rear iron.

She was leaking when I was running it, cant find where its leaking from though. Autozones damn pressure tester doesnt seal with the thermostat housing. So I pressurized it from the AST but no leaks came out. Guess I have to run the car again to find it. Would it be okay to run it without airbox on? Scared of sucking something through it.

At least 10-15 mins before the gauge start to move, takes a long time before it gets to 180F if I just let it sit there, and I have the temp gauge sensor in the TB coolant line.

I think your switching subjects. Are you referring to your water temperature sensor or your Air Temp sensor?

Yes it's ok to start the car without the air box hooked up, you can remove to the elbow. Not ok to boost without air box, air filter protects the turbo's first.

my aftermarket water temp gauge, But I did notice that I can still touch the coolant after 4 mins in the filler neck. Getting quite puzzled now.

I ran the car and found a small coolant puddle after running it. Jacked it up can't find any obvious places. Hooked up a pressurizer to AST and it held pressure fine. Ran it again and saw nothing dripping. I did squeeze upper radiator hose and the car is sucking coolant still, I thought I got most bubbles out. Im tempted to delete AST.
