How much would you pay?

I'm looking at a 93 R1 in denver, the car is sweet inside and out almost perfect except for the engine that has no compression.
My question to all of you is "how much would you pay for a sweet FD with a blown engine? I'm trying to get the car for $5000 bucks but the kid thinks the car is worth $14,000. what do you think?

If everything else is decent (paint, interior, wheels), then $10k or so.

$5k ain't going to happen unless it's wrecked.

Rolling chassis go for around 4-5k. The engine is worth $1000 even blown (core free rate) as well as the tranny, differential and the rest of the car which will easily add up to $10k or more.

Keep in mind, that there may be other things that need to go along with that blown engine. A typical reman runs about $2100. If the turbos or old or damaged, then you are looking around $1000 for a decent rebuild. Miscellaneous parts that you should replace at engine install time will also add up depending what else is on the car. It could possibly cost another $3-5k to get it on the road (which at $9-10k puts it just about right around the normal $14-15k for a running FD).

Well I have a quick update about the car, It's a Green 94 R2 with 57,000 miles. The motor and turbos are blown. The car has a cat back, intake and underdrive pullys, I made an offer the the kids parients for $7,500 cash. I think they went to mazda and got a huge quote for a new engine and turbos with all the labor. I'm going to here back tonight.

Has it been repainted?

'94 R2's from the factory only came in Silver Stone, Brilliant Black, Vintage Red.

Good question!!

I did not know that, I'm going to see the car in person this week. But the kid told me it was green, did the R1 come in green?

the real question is if it is a real R2. Ive guessing that it is not a real R2, and that it is a base model montego blue meant to look like an R2.

TEC, im in Boulder. Ive got some experience with the cars. If you want to me to come take a look at it or anything, give me a call. Ive usually free. 303-775-5069

Inis, sounds good!

I'm kind of new to the FD, I've only had TII.

I shoot you a PM in the next few days.
