How much for this FD

First off sorry for another how much thread, but i have been looking at and researching FD for 2 years now and i think i might have found one.

Here’s the ad
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=en&cardist=36

I test drove the car today and it was perfect it looked like it just rolled of the showroom floor. It boosted and idled perfectly. It has a PF catback PF boost gauge and a RB intake as well as a strut bar and 17-inch rims with new tires. So overall it was a 9.5-10

If you where in my shoes how much would you offer him if the compression test numbers are good.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks
Mike

I'd offer 16k. But that's just me.

It's a 93. No end of little problems. If the compression numbers are at least good, 95+ on all faces, probably about $15,000. Prices have fallen the past year.

Does P/Seats mean power seats?

Mazda drilled holes in the pedals to reduce weight but they installed power seats, mirrors and windows.

I think any problems a 1993 would have had would have been fixed some time in the mid 1990s. All FDs irrespective of year have an endless array of little (and not so little) problems. Prices have actually gone up a little in the last year for lower mileage cars. $15k is dreaming. $20k is a little high - I'd say $17-$18k.

19k is a bit high even though she looks clean and only has 43k original miles. I would only pay that much a for a low mileage CYM or 95 FD.. Offer 14-17k...

I took your advice and offered him 18k, but unfortunatly he said that he's in no rush to sell so he's waiting for his price

I guess i'll keep looking, because i think that 19.9k is way to much for a black on tan 93.

Thanks for your help

Take into consideration that most sellers put the prices of cars a little over what they actually want. This is because people like us go there and try to negociate a lower price.

I personally don't own an RX7, rather a Supra. Don't worry, like you I yearn for the day that I will own one. For now all you have to go with is what this board says (which for the most part you wouldn't find a better honest opinion). Listen to them, they've been through it man. I agree with them that the price is rather high. Don't worry, all these people just saved you a BUNCH of money. Look at it this way: If it's meant for you, you'll get it.

This time last year I bought a stock black on black R1 with 44k miles in the Bay Area. Owner was asking for $17k but the car needed new tires and had two small oil leaks (which I fixed with with $30 worth of parts) so I offered $16.4k and he accepted. A local Mazda dealer was selling a minty red 42k mile one for $20k at the same time, which sold pretty quickly. My car had been on the market for about 6 weeks when I bought so I think I paid pretty close to market price.

$20k for a private sale seems very high and, unless some clueless kid with rich parents comes along, he is unlikely to sell at that price. Ignore the 'no rush to sell' malarkey - nobody wants to keep a car that they are tired of when they could turn it into cash. Let him sit on it for a few months and deal with all the lowballers offering $12k and he may get sensible.

I paid 15k for my 94 r2 with 53K on the clock. The car looked like a 9/10. I couldn't even get through signing the paper work when 3 peoplein a row called him on the phone trying to out bid me. But 4 hours after I bought it the check engine light came on! The motor poped two weeks later. Wait for the right one, it will come. They will be there tomarrow.
