How much does a transmission cost to ship?

I've mailed them out before and it usually ran $85-$110 to ship.

I'm trying to buy one from "Passivemike" but he's telling me it's going to cost $299 just in shipping. This is from Florida to Southern Illinois (Not that far away).

What do yout think?

So, what the heck. Passivemike told me it costs $299 in shipping and someone else just quoted me at $235 for shipping.

Shouldn't be more than $150 any which way. And more than $100 is questionable.

For $299 you could almost get one shipped in from Japan.

When I bought my tranny, I went to the DHL web site printed the shipping label and paid for it witht my credit card.

Fax the label to the shipper and had DHL pick it up that's it.

Costed about $85 to $90.

Trannys are just big enough that if you're not careful with your shipping weights and carton size, you'll get freight pricing instead of standard parcel handling.

I recieved a UPS shipped tranny with a light, well made crate for around $100. It does help I think if you price it so that the shipper drops it off at the shipping terminal. A special pickup can add a good bit of $$.
