How much do you push your FD?

Just curious to see everyone's answers. What's the fastest you've got your FD to? How often do you go hard in it?

Cheers,

I don't do top speed anymore. My top speed was 155 in my 8 and that was the last time I ever saw of my 8. Yea, it was pretty bad.

Fastest I've gone in my FD would probably be just 110 and that was just to merge onto the freeway... yea, a lot more power than the 8.

The fastest i've been up to is 130 mph. i let off because i got scared, the windshield wipers were flopping like crazy. When i just drive, i usually try not to boost at all. i just push it when i merge onto highway or something.

I'm with Mahjik. Flat out straight line is boring. tracking it is really flogging it.

I agree with Mahjik, Larz, and FORSAKEN. I prefer to push my car when I'm driving far away from gravel, guardrails, and SUV's! 130mph is nothing compared to 0.95 lateral g's!

Mahjik...I'm surprised you didn't post this link already...this topic's been discussed for like 4 years now LOL. https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/whats-fastest-youve-had-your-fd-88955/. You're slipping man...

PS: Yea the blue FD that Hardhitter has used to be Jason's (BlueRex) IIRC.

On the street, I push it very infrequently. Theres a long highway straight that I sometimes take 100-120, but I've never tried for a top speed run.

I also don't push more than 75% grip on cornering. I learned my lesson not long after I bought the car and hit a patch of gravel at the apex of a corner. I used some non-pavement runout area and was very fortunate to only damage the front lip and undertray.

Now I do all my pushing on a road course or autox. Once you get out on a real race setup, you'll realize what a joke 'aggressive street driving' is.

Naw, "how hard you push the car" and "how fast you have taken the car" are two completely different things. You may never hit 140 mph on a particular road course (or AutoX course), but you'll be pushing the car a LOT more than just one 140 mph run on a highway stretch.

Mercedes SLK blue a.k.a. Bahama Blue Mica from the '00-'01 Mercedes paint catalog.

I only told you 40,000 times because you never got it right . Just wait til I get my new FD. If I can't find a Chaste White base it'll be a new interesting color again.

I guess I should answer the thread topic question too; I never pushed my car (Hardhitter's car) too hard except maybe late at night when no one else was out. After being in an accident once I never want to go through that experience again. Fastest I've gone? Maybe 140, but that was in the middle of the night on the straight part of 101.

Never actually pushed it that hard on the streets cause i haven't had the turbo's working properly for very long (although that's being taken care of now).

Top Speed in the FD=140, coming home from a trip to William & Mary around 7 in the morning merging onto the highway. 4, maybe 5 lanes wide, no traffic, straightaway, clear vision of no cops...and i just floored it. Too much traffic around where i live, plus there are cops EVERYWHERE!

Fastest I've taken it has been 158 mph, but that was when I was fairly stock. On the streets I usually push the car 5/10ths of its potential. I routinely hit 135-140 on open stretches of highway w/radar ON . Have yet to do an all out speed run with my new setup. Besides I've matured a lot since I originally bought the car.
