How much for a CYM R1?

Hello,

I'm brand new here. Starting next month, I'll be getting my feet wet in corporate America at an undisclosed car company's HQ in Detroit(I gradutae college in 2 weeks ). If all goes well my first year, in this crappy economy, I plan on buying a CYM R1 for my first toy. Here's my question to you all:

How much $ do they go for? I know it will go for more than KBB, seeing as how it's rare. This is also assuming the car is perfect, of course. I'd just like to get an idea of how much I'll be looking to spend. Thanks!!

I've grown up with Mazda most of my life (my dad sells them), and have loved the FD3S since I sat in my first one. I've driven several since then. I'm a sucker for yellow

Minimum, $20K+ for a clean, low mileage example. Other than this CYM in the Classifieds, good luck finding another one; only 350 were sold in the States and after 10 years, who knows how many are still out there today.

I don't understand the fascination with CYM yellow. It's an R1. That's nice if you don't want the extra stuff. But its still YELLOW. I can't imagine many worse colors for a car. Maybe hot pink, and bright orange. Those are worse for sure. I just can't see buying an ugly colored car just because there aren't that many of them. Not only is it ugly, but it attracts the cops like nothing else.

I know there are there are a number of people who think that CYM is the best color. I bet most of them are under 25 years old.

Yellow's not my favorite color either, but I don't think it's ugly. However, I wouldn't pay 3k more just for one color over another. That's almost enough to get a full repaint to any color you would want.

I paid 20k for mine back in 2000 or was it 2001. Average miles excellent condition. Already making over 300rwhp

I honestly think silver is the best color for this car.

It's a pretty sweet ride. Plus, Series7 does take good care of it.

It is a good color for the car, and the Mica pearl touch makes the color more eye catching than a Corvette or Mustang yellow. I think that Ice Cream truck white would be the worst color for an FD.

Most dealers suck... try and stay away from them. I always see ads like "...You too can be Fast and Furious..." or "...2F2F... "

I thought silver was the most classy of all the colors. some drunk just took my silver touring away. I just bought a CYM last week, and it should be on the road next week. I was in the middle teens, without any toys on the car.

You're criticizing a yellow sports car when yours is white?

What's wrong with white? White FDs are dope.

i paid 23 for mine over the summer, completely stock with 33k original miles.... pretty much like new, even smelled new.. and personally, i think yellow is a great color for just about any sports car. especially one as beautiful as the FD. yellow really helps bring attention to it, which with the exception of cops, i always thought was a good thing. IMO, one of the best things about owning a car as nice as this one is knowing that it is faster and better looking than 99% of the other cars on the road. why not let it stand out a little more and show it off when you can?

Allow me to debunk your theory then

Every time I've driven Steve's or a customer's CYM, I always get more looks than in my VR FD........

Speedking, The white FD in your picture is amazing.

Nice pic. I remember seeing that car at Sevenstock. In the background, just above the windshield on the back FD is a guy with a backpack on, and a white cap. That's me!! I think the guy on my left (green t-shirt) is James Paventi. His car is (was) the red one that we are behind, with the hood open.

Never been a fan of yellow cars, until I saw the 7 in CYM. By far my favorite color for these cars now. White being my least favorite, hides the lines too much for my taste.

Oh and btw I'm over 25.

Thanx for the replies. I thought it was kinda funny that someone with a white car (is that even a color? ) was making fun of a car WITH a color, but anyway....

I'd LOVE to grab one now, but that just isn't going to happen. I'm still in school, and won't start to make real money for another 3 weeks. That being said, it's gonna take a little bit before I have the scratch to buy one. I'm shooting for around fall of 2004. I'm more than willing to travel, but I'm weary of buying sight unseen. I like yellow, I'm not below 25. Silver would be my next choice. I'm not a fan of red or black, never have been. And it seems that every FD is see is Montego. White isn't even a color

I joined this board so early so I can hit the ground running when I finally do get my FD. I know the basics already, i.e; cooling system, vacuum lines, etc. I've worked on a friends FD myslef, but she keeps it stock. So, I'm not to schooled on the "mod world" for the FD. One thing I DO know, is that the sequential turbos will not stay on the car. I'm planning on a new motor w/single conversion. This way, god forbid anything happened to that engine, the old motor will be on standby

Thanks again. Talk to you all soon!! I can't WAIT to learn all about these awesome cars!!!
