Arrow How many of you only have a DP as a mod?

I was just wondering how many of you have stock FDs, but your only mod. is a Down Pipe. My FD is pretty much stock, and I'm thinking of getting a Downpipe since I think my precat is clogged. I'm just worried about spiking. I heard that at 3 upgrades you need an upgrade in ECU. Some people say that a DP alone shouldn't be a problem, but others say that even if your DP is your only mod. you should still restrict the boost. Any opinions? THanks.

you won't have a problem with just a DP......get that precat out of there asap.

You'll definitely be fine w/ just a DP. My only go-fast mod is the DP (my sig has the others), and I'm not noticing any problems at all. Now, I dont have a boost gauge yet, so I could be getting some creep and not know it, but I seriously doubt it. My motor is brand new, and everything is running pretty much how you'd expect it to.

I NOW have a downpipe as my only mod, heh... just got the HKS downpipe. I read on several sites that a downpipe will give you an extra psi of boost but according to me boost gauge, my car is still boosting the same but the turbos do feel like they're spooling up faster. Is this normal or should be seeing more boost with the downipipe as the only mod?

Now running stock intake (but with bottom cut out + K&N); DP: main cat + catback and stock ecu. How quiet again. How boring! Just kidding. Sorta. After running straight pipes and the Pettit ecu this is a HUGE step down. No more mid-range rush, no more freaky flying mile top end power. Not much worry about spikes or overboosting IMO. I'm lucky to get to 11 psi now but sure feels good to be able to keep throttle WFO. So good I went hill flying but that's another thread.

Go with the DP.
