just wondering, when your driving around, boosting like normal or whatever, after like 20 minutes of driving, if you were to leave your car running and hop out and toucfh your exhuast... how hot is it?

if i remember correctly, i can tap the tailpipe with my finger... it's pretty hot. Then again it's not exactly stock ... it's a 3" straight-through homemade turbo back exhaust with a midpipe and an XR-1 (yeah, the suckers loud!

Nah, I have never been brave enuf to grab the exhaust with my bare hand after running it for 20 min expect for my dp and 1/2 of my mid pipe with is wrapped with about 8 layers of thermotec wrap, after a hard run, I can grab the dp and its just a little warm to the touch.

 

If you are dumb enuf to jump out and touch it you deserve to find out how hot it is

I've burnt myself a few times... And, I melted my sponge to it trying to wash it... Oops.. So, yeah... I guess it's hot.

 

depending on which part of the exhaust, i'd say the dp, mp are about 1000-1500F while the catback is under 1000.

Spoolin is right on about how hot it is. After running my car one day the turbo timer kept the car on. I walked about a foot behind the exhaust and all the hair on my legs litterally melted, shriveled up and as soon as I touched it fell off. That is extremely hot in my book.

 

You've been premixing Nair haven't you.

 

i know my friend got too close to it and the exhaust itself burnt the hair off his leg. it was really funny, but if the exhaust is that hot i can't imagine touching the metal
