How Do You Like This?
Not so clean with the door open. The Honda seat bottom was wider and might have been problematic, but the child I bought it from had replaced the seat-pan with an Integra pan in order to fit it in his car. That changed my direction, because the Integra pan didn't fit properly and would have been a bigger problem. This seat pan is from the FD, I cut the back brackets to bits, made some parts on the lathe, and welded everything together (doesn't pivot). I'm pretty sure I can open the Honda seat cover and re-stitch it to work here (done a few upholstery jobs before), hence the foam modifications. I've got the carpet kit, going black. Today was the first day I driven it since getting it all (engine/transmission/suspension/brakes) back together. It was difficult, actually impossible, to keep the revs down at a respectable break-in level, and the delrin bushing/stance coilovers make for an adventurous experience.
Wow! Sounds like you've been pretty productive. Keep up the good work! If you like the seats, then don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. Just keep up the quality work! What part of the bay?
I'm in Walnut Creek. I don't know how productive I've been, but if you work on these things long enough, something has to get done...

i would consider it a waste of time to swap out the fd's seats with s2k's since in my opinion they arnt much different. if your going to take the time to remove the seats and rails, might as well get lightweight racing seats. i'm not shooting down your idea, just letting you know wat route i would take.

Interesting idea, it doesnt really look bad.
I've broken in many FD engines with many different setups. Why aren't you able to keep the revs down? Just be gentle with your right foot

racing seats + no track time + ARP card + bald head + beer gut = stale Rice
Defective right foot + being in the Vehicross for too many years.
The driver's side upholstry was not good, something had to be done. I don't like the looks of the stock seats, and find the quality and physical appearance of the S2000 seats to be a huge difference. I don't seem to do the easy/smart thing too often, but the only racing seats I like cost $$$. That and the following mathematical equation make racing seats impractical:
i did notice after i took another look at the picture, that you only changed the back rest. that would be a rather easy switch if only you had black leather seats to start.
The original plan was to use the whole seat, but when forced to fabricate, it was too complicated to retain the mechanism. The parts I fabricated on the lathe were used to create a pivot, but I then use a set-screw to stake it in one position. Anyway, racing seats don't pivot, and they call that a "feature".
Man, I'm in the middle of the same sort of question... I found some black s2000 seats out here in Hawaii that I really like.
2knob, you said that the seat pan had been switched out with an Integra one? Got any idea on what the original Honda one was like?

Don't really know what they looked like, but here's some pictures of the scavenged Integra pan/rails. The Integra pan's shape fits the S2000 foam roughly, but there's way too much rig outside the pan and it rides kinda high. I would assume the S2000 pan is similar, but the rails should tuck under the seat-pan to fit in the available space (these rails are 19" wide).

Nice work so far! Depending on how big you are they look to be more comfortable than the stock seats. And for the price I think you got a good deal since you know how to do upholstery work.
