How do u guy's change your rear pad on fds without mazda specail tool?
Hey i just brought a set of rear pad to intalled on my 93 rx7 but I can't put the new pad in because I need a specail tool to turn the piston. How do u guys manage to turn the piston on the caliper? Or u need that specail tool? thanks, khris
I don't think you can push in the rears, I am pretty sure they twist back in. I have heard of some guys using needle nose and screwdrivers, never tried it myself but it sounds like a pain in the a**.

Hey r u sure canman6969? because in the book it tell u to turn the piston but u need a special tool. also I try to push it in but it won't go anywhere. The rear caliper is different from the front , I can use a big C-clamp push the pistion in on the front but it won't work for the back. help me here I am missing something.thanks, khris
well I just replaced my rotors and I didnt do anything but pushed them back just like the fronts, they were a little more stuborn, but they went...Maybe the system is a little different, because mine is a 96 J-Spec.. I dont know... But I have new rotors and pads on..

i just grasped the inside of the bow tie and squeze and push and turn counter clock wise. Worked just fine. I manual says you need all sort of SSP's but just learn how to get around without them or go spend a couple K on all the tools
Generally you can pull the caliper off and put it back on. However, if the piston twists, you have to realign it. Mine usually twists since I use a "C" clamp to push the piston back in. A screwdriver and a couple of light taps with a hammer realigns the piston pretty easy.

Autoparts stores usually carry a tool that you put on a 3/8'' ratchet and extension that work fine. They are about $10.
