You can use a pressure washer, steam, whatever. I use Castrol degreaser. Works great!

I did this recently, started with a cold engine, I covered my intake, alternator , and battery with plastic bags used Gunk and sprayed it liberally on the whole engine, let it sit for 10 mins. and then just placed running water on the engine and hosed everything off. After I had ascertained that my engine was rinsed with no residue of the degreaser I turned the car on and drove it around for 20 mins. came back and all the water had evaporated. I then opened the hood and put a protectant on all the hoses, plastics etc. used Meguier's #40 Vinyl and Rubber Protectant, and the engine bay looks brand new. Hope that helps...good luck

I use Fulcron (a generic degreaser) and jet washer with hot water, and never covered anything to protect electronics from water, never had any problem

I noticed in the other thread the person was dissapointed with how the UIM came out. Just get a small square of a scotch brite pad, and start scrubbing away. Be sure it keep blowing the alum dust away, and you can use something like WD-40 afterwards to get all the shavings off. Night and Day Difference.
