How to do a burn out in my FD?

Really dumb question. I have been to the track 5 times for a total of about 15 runs. I had new tires, but they were Dayton Daytona Z's. With the 40K tread wear warranty, etc.

with those my best 60' was 2.21. I ran a best et of 13.504 @ 106.5 with a 2.27 60'. Now I have Nitto 555 R's.

I watch otheres do burn outs, but I don't quite understand how to do it myself. This is going to sound really stupid, but how do you spin the rear tires for a heavy burnout without launching forward?

you need a line lock i think its called. SOMe igntions have this feature. Or just rev really high like 6gs and drop the clutch, keeping the high rpms going , and make sure your in the water. Marc

Just like this and kinda feather the brakes to keep your car from going farther. I

t's something that takes practice. Since you have the nitto 555r's, those need a good burn to get warmed up. These are not street tires. These will have no traction unless you do a good burn on them.

line locks is correct. i don't know how they work, but they basically 'hold the down the brake' on your front wheels (or rears for FWD cars).

I guess I Will try this. I don't have a line lock and don't know how to install. I'll try the 6000 rpm thing.

You can't use linelock on a car equipt with ABS I think, at least that's what I read in a catalogue I have.

Yeah you can find a line lock almost anywhere....

It does just that, locks the front and lets the rears spin. Dont worry about this happening when you dont want it to, it has a saftey feature.. I still would recommend it for a daily driver..

A linelock is for a RACECAR. If you are asking what a linelock is then you probably don't need one. A linelock locks the front brakes at the flick of a switch to keep you from moving foward.

Just back into the waterbox and pull to the front edge rev to about 6k and sidestep the clutch.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick or anything but putting a linelock on a street car is like putting a parachute on a street car...you don't need it.

Line Lock...LOL...A few of us Okinawa guys have line lock installed inbour cars...me being NOT one of them.

Basically, it's an interruption in the line that goes to both the front brakes. You push the Brake Pedal down and that puts pressure to all 4 calipers. With a flick of a switch, you arm the system and them push a button down to keep LINE pressure positive on the two front brakes, LOCKing them in place so that you can remove your foot off of the brake and place one foot on the clutch, and one foot on the gas.

...OR....

Do what I do...the jspecracer7 line lock Push down the clutch with your left foot. Push down the Brake with your heal. Push down the gas with the toes of your foot. Release the clutch(you don't have to dump it)....Now you're doing a burnout.

If you're in the waterbox, you should be able to do a burnout EASILY with Nitto 555R's...It's EASY without the water box

Linelocks arent only for racecars. The heel toe method while effective in doing the deed is also very hard on brake pads as well as clutches, not to mention the jackass status you will get if it isnt accomplished correctly. If you like dragging your RX and you like heating the tires then call JEGS and get yourself a TCI $69 line lock that will save your clutch and brakes. Or you can do like R1 says and save your money for a clutch.

I have a new ACT clutch, but screw it. I will not do a burn out. I have to get better times with the Nittos than the crummy dayton's I had on there.

Remove the ABS fuse...Put into 2nd gear too.

Rev up to 6000 - 6500 rpm.
Let of clutch quickly then grab the brake(with the same foot) while keeping the rpm's up... And stay there of about 3 - 6 seconds.

I learned this from Famous 3rd gener "Brooks Weiblat"
AT this site:http://www.rotarypowered.com/faq.html

This is the ART of the BURNOUT...

if you do not remove the ABS fuse you might wair out the clutch quickly cause the ABS will try to grab the rear brakes.

Have fun...
jc.

LOL...Okay guys, side stepping is exactly what I explained.....using your heel to hold down the brake and SIDE STEP(Turn your foot Horizontal) the gas with your toes. got it?

Dry Hopp is you revving the engine, dumping the clutch for 1st gear only...trying to get as much as burnout as you can...well, that's what I call it anyways...
