How to clean Apexi Intake?

Ok. I got Apexi intake on my car and it's getting kinda dirty so i was gonna clean it. Can i just wash it with water, dry it, and put it on? or do I have to oil it before i put it on like one of those K&N filters? Thanks!

I got mine a little wet and let it dry overnight. Seems to be fine. I'm going to use some compressed air, next.

i heard if u spray it with air you can seperate the fibers and allow bigger particles to get in there, proly best to use the k&n air filter cleaning kit.

yes, please use a K&N cleaning kit... you clean, let dry and re-oil it.

Don't use compressed air. You'll blast holes through the filter element. A K&N recharge kit works well or if you want to be cheep you could use degreaser and atf since most rx-7 owners have atf laying around. Hit it with the degreaser and wash it real well. I like to use a soft brush to help loosen the dirt. Make sure you have the water run from the inside of the filter out as to not push dirt into the filter. Let it dry completely before you re-oil it.

Do NOT oil an APEX'i filter. They never need oiling and oiling it will ruin it. I just shake mine so all the big stuff falls out, then hit it with a vacuum on low.

You're correct.

From APEX'is site:
The Power Intake is dry-type filter and is trouble free. Some of the problems associated with wet type cleaners, such as oil sticking to the air flow meter, are a thing of the past. The Power Intake is basically maintenance free. Filter replacement, when necessary, can be done at a very low cost.
